Soak-er hoses!! nothing in search button. In addition to a good ground guy is a soak-er hose overkill. I have read about killing plants and bushes and how easy it is to kill them. I wanted to know when it comes to a house with no gutters and an incredible landscaping does any of the members use a soak-er hose as well as a ground guy.

A BIG diameter water hose attached to a human being is what we use.

You need to FLOOD the roots sometimes, not slowly marinate them, with a soaker hose biggrin

Chris thanks for info. I intend to use a ground guy and a soaker hose. Thought soaker hose will be extra protection

Brian, do the homes in your area have gutters? Aslong as everything gets diluted you'll be fine. If you be a low gpm pump and use a sheild you can do a roof with just a little overspray on the edges. If the house don't have gutters that's a different story.

Tom

alot of the houses have gutters and a lot don't. I'm not worried about the houses with gutters, I'm worried about the ones without any gutters ans with great landscaping. I have a few old broken and leaky hoses and thought about trying to use them. But if it is overkill i wont waste my time. was just wondering if anyone has them or uses them.

Just about all the houses here have gutters. Only one house last summer had downspouts that drained in the yard. Good luck Brian.

We try to pre wet all surfaces than might get over spray, screens, wood, oxidized gutters, siding, a soak hose only would protect a root kill, no leaf, branch over-spray on expensive Japanese maple. If you have basement, you will have gutters, my partner in the gutters business is the mybasementdoctor.com, gutters that work properly and channel water away helps to prevent basement issues such as capacity, hydro-static pressure, and structural cracks. We also install PVC drain lines. Proper grading is critical to move water away from the structure. The number of houses that have basement issues is really off the charts, most around 20 year mark and on.

EPA issued a technical guideline that says all downspouts should empty 5ft from a basement foundation. If you build on a slab, you really don't need gutters most of the time. My limited knowledge on the topic.
