Preventing truck deterioration

Hey AC recommended a company called HOTSPRAY which will basically take a part your truck and spray everything down to the frame with a protective coating. This process is suppose to increase the life of your rig. He also sells the nuetrilizing wash to spray your truck down after a day of work.

I'm up in PA and I can't take my rig down to florida to get it HotSprayed, so I'm looking for a way to do it myself.

Google "spray on Bed Liner" it is usually pretty cheap. They can spray that stuff anywhere you want.

A little research might go a long way on this one..... before using a "do it yourself kit". I'm not 100% sure, but I think I remember reading somewhere that the chemical makeup of what the Hot Spray folks use is different from the typical spray on liner products. I've read posts from this site where a few people with traditional spray liners have had issues with finding really bad rust behind the liner material.

I bought the most expensive do-it-yourself bedliner kit this year. It was junk. Didn't hold up to the chemicles. I would think that if you really wanted to protect your vehicle, just have it washed at the end of the day.

Yes I would use a primer/cleaner, and then apply the bonding adhesive. Wait until its dry, meaning not even tacky, then lay the epdm down. Make sure you brush it real hard, the diamond plate isn't flat so their can't be any air trapped.
I would use the .060 instead of the .045 mil.

I like the epdm. Just re-did my van. Boxed out the roof set-up like a shower pan. If your equipment leaks nothing will save you. Check connections regularly. Keep your set up as simple as possible. My first set up was a real Rube Golberg. It was difficult to train guys to operate it.

Ed - Did you glue down the epdm or just lay it down?

I was thinking about setting up my service body van as my roof cleaning rig and was leaning toward the epdm.

I just finished putting down EDPM with glue. Got the EDPM online and the glue from a local roofing wholeslaer(ABC). They sold me way to much glue for for my 17' box. Probably only needed a gallon or more.

It was not an easy job getting to down because you have to glue both the floor and the back side of the EDPM. Someone said that all you need to do is the edges. I heard that "after" I did might. Don't know it that is right or not. I should have gone up the walls a foot or so.

I put EPDM on the floor of my trailer, I had some leftover from a flat roof installation. I felt it was the best way to go after reading on here for a while.

What I'm wondering is, will the glue for EPDM stick to the steel diamond plate floor. I'm thinking it will, anyone know for sure?

It will stick to the diamond plate like a beast! As long as it is done right of course.

Zach - Do you think I need to prime the whole floor like you would prime the flashing of a flat roof?

this is one of the beautys of a flat bed, worse comes to worse, cut the flat bed off and go to the scrap yard and put another one on, total cost about six hundred.

I lined my enclosed trailer with those rubber mats they use in commercial kitchens.... works for me ! ! !

I was thinking the rubber mats, were the best bet. What do you guys use to wash your truck/equipment? Like I said AC offers a neutral wash.

Dan, if you do a search you can find some sh neutralizers. Sodium thiosulfate comes to mind. You could make your own sh neutralizer but you'll still have the salt to deal with. I still think if you go to a car wash you'll be fine. Anyone else can correct me if I'm wrong. As far as AC's products. The bleach wash seemed to be a disaster, the green wash has mixed reviews (some really like it, others didn't think it was worth the money) and I have not heard of anyone using his other products. I am only going by what I've read on the forums reguarding his products.

How about Salt Away. We use it to flush out the inside & outside of the engine on our jetskis after running in the ocean.

I think this is a great idea. This should work well, and be safe on the hoses.
