I found this site a few weeks ago while I was searching for a new low pressure Flojet pump. I’m impressed!
I’ve been waiting for the economy to get healthy before starting a new company, but as time passes, I fear I might not live that long.
I’m out of Pensacola, FL, but I used to own a power washing company in Oklahoma City. When I started in the pressure washing biz in 2001, I didn’t like downstreaming from the get go, so I went to my local Ag supplier and bought a FloJet 12volt and a 50gal chem Tank. It was probably one of the best investments I made and it was a great little rig for single story house washes and houses with walkable rooves. It also fit great with my company slogan, which was: “Oklahoma’s High, Low and No Pressure, Mobile Cleaning Company”.
I did PW full time for a few years; then I started flipping houses and doing PW part time. I had some excellent commercial accounts, but I cut loose the low pays and stopped doing residential altogether.
Then, after my wife retired, we moved to Pensacola. We were still doing the REI thing but I wasn’t able to find any PW work. When the bottom fell out of the RE market I started doing residential handyman work and finally started getting some addon PW work.
I’ve noticed the people here seem to be a lot more skeptical of new businesses than they were in the mid-west, and from what I can tell, rightfully so. It seems they’ve been scammed a lot over the years, especially in this area, and as a result, they’re very cautious about hiring unknown businesses/contractors.
I think another contributing factor is the many lowball, fly by nighters around here. It’s not unusual to see Ads in the local paper for house washes starting at $35.00 or $40.00. I don’t know about you guys, but for that kind of money my rig isn’t leaving the yard.
Anyway, I’ve got some new equipment coming in from Bob over at PT and I just got a gallon of Talon that I want to test from Russ at Southside. The plan is to spend the rest of the year getting organized and building a portfolio of current roof/house wash jobs. I have a feeling that the Fatboy is going to be quite a bit different from using my little FloJet, that pumps about 1.5gpm at 40psi, but I’m looking forward to mastering the beast. lol!
I do have one question: Are there any requirements other than paying the (annual?) membership fee prior to applying for premium membership?
Welcome Paul. Great to have you here. I was born in Pensacola, Attended PJC, and my parents still live there, although moving back to Clearwater first of next year. They live Over off Brent Lane. I will be in Pensacola end of the month if you want to hook up for lunch or something and talk shop. Feel free to call me anytime.
Welcome Paul, I can tell you know a good thing when you see it becoming a premium member right away. Good luck, looking forward to what you can bring to the table.
