Chuck, if you use their web building software, they will own it and you'll be stuck with them.
"if you use their web building software"
I already bought it, so do I have any alternative now?
I bought a web building program and made mine that way. I do use godaddy for hosting. No problems and they are not to hard get on the phone to answer questions. Very helpful.
asoftroofwash.com is godaddy and I needed help putting it together. aroofwash.com is not and I did it all myself. Let me know if you 2nd one better and I can pm you the info.

Chuck, my site was originally a godaddy template and is still hosted by godaddy but my sister in law does all of my website stuff. I know my site is a bit too much as for content and may go to a simple one page site. Most people never go to any of the other pages they just look at the number and call. I just like the extra content because some people do read it. I have 2 websites the she did http://www.tropicalroofandexterior.com and http://www.bassnflatsfishing.com and at the bottom of the sites is her link. She can build you a site if you want her to, just get together all info and pics and she will present you ideas. Tell her you know me.

Chuck - I'm not going to post it on the open side, but there is a REAL reason why you should not use WebSite Tonight. My main website is on it, yet I still say this. There is a a factual reason why you should not use it.
There's a lot of great info on this forum, yet there is a lot of mis-information as well. Many post thoughts and opinion as fact.
Feel free to call me or meet me at the water cooler...... I'll tell you all about it. I guarantee you'll be glad that you did. Chris T knows what I'm talking about and would tell you the same I'm sure.
I've used godaddy since the start, and I've had no problems. Built everything, and optimized everything as well. Very simple interface, and the changes are published instantly.
I buy my domain names from Godaddy and then forward them to the DNS (Domain Names System) server names of the hosting company I choose to host my website.
If you don't like Godaddy, you can always transfer your domain names to any registered domain name registrar, for a small fee - paid to godaddy.
Hosting service providers that also provide canned software for you to build your website do indeed own the software/templates (program code) they provide for you to enter your content, graphics, etc. But, I find it hard to believe they own the content or graphics you upload, because as a customer, you can simply delete that stuff before you notify them that you're terminating your account.
The hosting of the website is not the concern, nor where one buys the domain names. The key take away is that Wordpress is far superior to Website-Tonight (by GoDaddy). All else is just a matter of preference.
And I write this with my primary website being on Website tonight.......
I point all of this out solely for clarity.
As an aisde, Expand2Web that Bruce mentions, is on the Wordpress platform.
