"3-point contact means you have 2 hands and 1 foot or 1 hand and 2 feet in contact with the ladder at all times. It is the safest and most sensible way to go up and down a ladder, and you’ll always be sure to have at least one hand on the ladder."
Homeowners -- stay off the ladders and hire the seasoned roof and gutter cleaners you find here at RCIA. They have the skills and training to do the job professionally and safely.
Roof cleaners -- here's a heads up regarding a kick-out scenario with the Little Giant. This one is debatable, but it's worth keeping in mind when you're using it as he is. I use mine as a A-frame mostly:
the last little giant video is scary but I've never set up my ladders like that. if the roof line is that low I a-frame. If its higher I use a ladder stabilizer. i've never had kick out. i do have to remove one of the sections to get my click-in stabilizer to fit though.
I have seen a lot of things in my time in construction. Nothing is scarier than an on-site accident, and they will happen. It is always smart to have a weekly safety meeting, to discuss procedures and to keep safety prevalent in everyone's mind.
