Roof Cleaning Workers Comp
Permalink

I just went through renewing my workers comp. When they saw on my website that I do roof cleaning, they wanted to raise my rate to 38%. this would be on my entire payroll not just the roof cleaning portion. As roof cleaning only accounts for around 15% of my business i can not afford to do this. So I took roof cleaning off my website and found another ins carrier. Has anyone else run into this and how did you handle it. Thanks Clark

who is your insurance carrier? also did you do workers comp through your carrier or the state?

reason i ask is my insurance company doesn't offer workers comp, so i went through the state & didn't have a problem.

I would have to go through the state ins fund at the 38% rate. With an upfront payment of 2000 - 4000 dollars.

Well said Bruce. I wonder if we are okay if we have employees who stay on the ground, and get up on the ladder/roof ourselves. As owners the workers comp doesn't cover us anyway.
