New Paid Vendor Forum

Gary, et al.,

To generate additional revenue and exposure, have you considered a more generic Vendor Forum?

Presently, we have Distributors Of Roof Cleaning Equipment, which is great but very specific.

If you have a more generic (paid) Vendor Forum, could you invite vendors specializing in safety equipment, durable work-related clothing, roof-related footwear, etc?

Case in point:  I spoke with Dan Feldhaus, the owner/designer of a sturdy but, IMHO, top-heavy ladder stand-off known as Spider Gutter Protector.  I haven't used it; however, I'd like to in order to determine just how cumbersome it would be.  That led to a discussion of the forum and demos and so forth.

Another instance was a conversation with someone at Cougar Paws.  I learned that there were seconds to be had, that had marks on the uppers but if you didn't mind that, you could save some dough.  Actually it's a third of the price off, so that's substantial.  She went on to say that they have developed a boot with roof cleaners in mind.  Someone here on the forum doubted durability due to the chems, etc.  A vendor forum would be ideal to dispell any misconceptions in that regard.

With a generic forum, containing specific subcategories, you could break things down into specific areas, such as you do now strictly for cleaning equipment.

With more vendors in a location like that, it could serve to break down specific rivalries that may exist between only a handful of broad spectrum vendors.

And then, of course, there are the discounts that a vendor would bring to the table for our members.  It could get very competitive to our advantage, among the vendors doing things on our behalf.

With those discounts, members could ill-afford not to belong to RCIA, even at a very substantial increase in your annual $100 fee.

Anyone else have thoughts along those lines?

BTW:  This would not affect the present broad spectrum suppliers we know well here; it would merely bring more vendors from other categories, such as insurance, to the paid vendor table.  Payment could be deemed negotiable as well, based on discounted rental rates, etc., they provide to members.

In addition to the above, I was a part of an organization that employed someone to explore vendor opportunities for its members and employees.  Her job was similar to that of a buyer for a retail chain.  It's a sweetheart job, really, bringing lots of tchotchkes and samples for the upper echelon and often bringing new, innovative things to members before they are available to the general public.  And so forth.

Just a thought.

I agree! I think that there should be numerous vendor opportunities for RCIA, with such great SEO!

It seems like a natural, Chuck.  A win-win for vendor and RCIA members alike.

I'm not referencing the broad spectrum suppliers we already have -- they do a great job and have their following.

I'm talking about additional categories that would be attracted by the volume of our membership in a way that would afford us deep discounts on equipment rental, clothing, insurance, hosting -- and even products such as fall-arrest items, and so forth.

Discounts of that nature could present an even more compelling reason for paid membership, perhaps at a higher rate, which could be beneficial to RCIA and its members in the long term.

Just a thought.

I'd be surprised if it wasn't possible, with the traffic RCIA has, if "banner ads" couldn't be marketed to companies that sell all the equipment we use to generate a monthly income for RCIA.
Ladders, Stand-offs, Pressure Washing supplies [many of us do pressure washing and most use at least tips and quick connects etc from pressure washing companies.
That sort of thing. Ya know?

C'mon, Chuck - bumper or bullet, what's the difference?  It all fries up in the pan.

Belly up!

Exactly! I meant to say that too, I had a brain fart. { The older I get, it seems I'm in a fairly constant brain fart and only come out of it occasionally hmm }

Combine top notch SEO and hundreds of potential customers on a regular basis, with new ones showing up regularly and any vendor would be silly not to pay for banner ads here!

Ever think of contacting places like Envirospec and other big dealers and make them a "start up" offer for a banner ad?
