2 Houses - Same problem this weekend.

Could have something to do with the powder coat breaking down prematurely. First thing I would do is rub your finger accross the siding and see if you get a chalky residue. Try to re-soap it with house strentgh mix w/out the simple cherry and try to brush it out, maybe start with a sample area and see if it works out. I would say this has something to do with it. I also would consider eliminating simple cherry from now on. Theres no need to complicate a simple bleach & soap house mix. Ive had problems with that stuff also.

That's exactly what it is, I rubbed my hand across the surface and a chalky residue is on my hands now. I'm trying to take care of this right now. Thanks!

What about applying a wax after it is cleaned ?

I would go back and rinse real well first, once in a while we have to re-rinse, their is no reason to use anything other than SH and amonyx either,

It some of the pics it looks like you used enough pressure to remove the powder coat. It shows a pattern of a back & forth rinsing with a fanned tip. It may be the case that you have to remove all of the powder coat to match the rest. It would really suck if this is the case.

I have used this product in the past, it is some what costly. I just used it in the wash....but the homes shined like crazy. Maybe it will help your problem....

I have forward the Vinyl Renu product to them and informed them that this is a possibility. When I went back, I could not even see what the problem was, they said it can only be viewed in the evening. So, I brushed the sides of both houses and they said they are still uneven in a few spots. I'll go back and do it again, but there is a bigger problem that they are now trying to pin on me. I am going to upload a few pictures showing what I am referring to, but this was not caused by our cleaners. It's a coarse/gritty white substance on the siding that will not come off. It is only on the porch of one of the houses and goes up about 4ft where it stops. I informed the customer that this must have been under the dirt because if my cleaners did this, then the entire house would be like this. I don't know if I will be able to make these customers happy, but I'm going to keep going back until there is nothing more I can do.

These pictures are of the siding where the porch is, and shows the issues that I mentioned in the previous post.

Scrubbing this did not help as it dried the exact same as it did the first time.

Please let me know your thoughts. This house was softwashed, high pressure was not used anywhere.

This concrete is sealed with something, so it's possibly something from when they did that? I don't have a clue.

It looks like this is the solution to the problem on the sides where the discoloration showed up, gotta go back Friday. Talk about taking a loss!

This has been driving me crazy thinking about what caused this issue. This looks like someone splashed an oil on the siding, the reason I say that is my kid splashed oil on my siding and had the same look.
But before you go out there Friday, go to your local siding supply house and ask for a siding rep if he could help you understand what happened, it is just to ironic that they both had this happen and very well could be a defect from the manufacturer. Any siding rep will be able to tell you exactly who made it and if there may have been issue with it.

Vinyl Siding usually cleans right up with just a spray of roof cleaning mix, followed by a garden hose rinse. We pre wet the siding first, then hit it with roof mix, let dwell, then garden hose rinse.

I use simple cherry every day and never have any problems. I just opened a new batch today and did not have any problems. The only time I have ever had an issue with Simple Cherry was when I used way too much of it. We fixed it by re-washing and brushing the troubled areas. It came out perfect.

Roof mix is expensive in MD to use for siding! However, I don't use high pressure and my mix has been the same since I've been downstreaming. This is my mix, straight from the Pressure Tek website:

Downstreaming: 3.5 gallons of 12.5% chlorine, 1.5 gallons water & (2) 8oz scoops of Simple Cherry.

The siding was rinsing clear when I left, meaning it wasn't sudsing up at all and I'd move on to the next section just as I always do. It's just strange how it happened with 2 houses right next to each other, built in the same year with the same siding manufacturer. I'm not concerned about the siding where it is oxidizing, I'll just lightly brush those areas. I'm worried about the stuff under the porch, which you can see best in pics 4 and 5 in the last set I posted. The siding is dry there and you can see a white residue on the siding. It is not like this all the way around the house, only 4ft up on the porch and then it stops and the siding looks fine above that. This had to be there before I started washing but I didn't see it since the house had 9 years of filth on it. The customer is blaming this on me, how in the world do I get around that? They want me to have a contractor fix this section at my expense if I can get it to look like the rest of the house.

I'm open to any suggestions, but they don't seem to want to spend the money for Vinyl Renu (they think I should buy it).

no I wouldn't either, as far as the areas above, is it both customers or one that wants to have you pay for new siding?

If the one had sealant put on the concrete that would be obvious overspray. But the concrete looks new, which tells me they had the porch area repoured with the siding left in place and it would be from the pour into the forms. Take your fingernail and see if you can scratch some off.
It is either concrete or sealant.
Let them know if we have to go to court so be it, as you cannot produce brand new siding, and if it is only in one area and not the whole house they will lose in court. Just sucks to go to that level.

It's only one customer where the porch has some weird stuff going on. The porch was not repoured, it's the same as what was there when the house was built, except they put some concrete sealer on it. I don't believe it is the sealer on the siding because I see where they screwed up and slapped the siding with a roller or something. However, it does not make sense that this area and only this area are like that around the entire house. I had to be straight forward to to the point with them on all of this and I don't like doing that, but I'm no fool.

Am I wrong in thinking that this house was already in this condition under the dirt layer that was coating the house? In the future, how can I prevent this from happening? This has sucked up a lot of my time and effort and I'm still not going to be able to make these people happy. They must have thought their house was pristine before I got there, but the truth is, they wouldn't know because it was caked in dirt and filth.

Brushing the surface lightly with a mild house wash worked with evening things out around the house, but now they are complaining that it is dull. yawn Well, I guess that can happen with builder grade siding and 10 years of no maintenance in the sun?

I have chalky drip looking stains near my front door. Its an area where the strongest daytime Sun shines on it. It is also the most faded part of my siding and also the part where the powder coat has broken down the most. And truth be told: Im too lazy to wash my own house so it had nothing to do with washing it. And it looks exactly the same as your pics. I can send a pic later ( my guys took the camera)
