Hey guys, just had my first batch of SH delivered Friday,10.5% and came in three 55 gal drums and pumped in to my tote. My concern is that it was dark brown in color, I call my sales rep assured me that it was 10.5% and would come and test it for me. But he said that it was that color because of the higher content of iron. ?
Does this seem right to you guys, planning on doing 3 jobs Wednesday and don't want to have to make to trips because e mix is bad.
Thanks, Mike
If the water it was made with has a very high iron content, it may stain the roofs, and anything else that it contacts. It is also possible that it has been in contact with metal in the shipping, packaging process and what you are seeing is rust particles. Never heard of this problem before. Get your salesman to explain the product label on the drum as that will tell you where and when the SH was made. SH normally has a 30 day shelf life. Good info to know.
Banana Color is what you want....If you rub it inbetween your fingers and it gets hot it's good..... But Dark Brown doesn't sound right, Mine ALWAYS come's very bright yellow. Just talking about it makes me wanna go clean a roof....lol
Depends what type of truck it was originally delivered in. Older tankers have a black rubber like lining and very often changed the color of SH. Didn't know those were still in use but that is the reason. It's should still be good. As Will said if you rub it between your fingers and it gets warm and turns white your good to go.

OK, the sales rep came out yesterday to test the SH. It turns out that the drum that they provided me with had some sediment in it before they pumped thedrums in to it. Most of the sediment had settled back to the bottom, and the SH was a nice yellow color. But since their was still some solids still suspended, I told him that I was not going to take a chance with running this stuff through my pumps. I picked up my own brand new tote that only had 1 fresh batch of 12.5% SH in it and they are replacing all of the SH with some new on Thursday. I am meeting with another supplier that can actually give me the 12.5% on Friday. We will see what his prices are, it is always good to have a back up supplier.
Well they came out this morning to replace my SH. I only bought 165 gal initially, but they gave me the entire 250 gal at no charge. That's customer service.
