Did they happen because your mix was too strong or it was just a reaction with the aluminum in general?

Using the house was solution, fairly weak, I was washing the house I posted in Staunton. The window frames started to change color. From White to light tan. After a number of phone calls (Oh, BTW, it sure pays to be a premium member), I finally found the solution because nothing I had with me would bring back the white color of the aluminum frame. Funny thing is not all the windows did it. In the end I used Lime away and a 3M pad to get the color back. Needless to say, the job took much longer but the end result was a happy customer!

FYI, just in case, check the windows, it might save your butt.

 brett, that is vinyl trim around the window. and the solution is to do nothing at all, once the sun hits it they turn bright white, It is simply a chemical reaction with the make up of the vinyl, I come across this all the time. Note the sun must hit it, for up to an 1/2 hour or more, it cant be a cloudy day!

I thought they were vinyl until this color change happened. I checked the windows and they are aluminum, without question. What you say about them changing back makes sense because the dormers didn't stay this odd color since they were in the sun most of the day. These windows, especially the ones on the porch, see very little to no sun at all. I went back today to take a look and all is well.

funny, I can make plants turn the same shade of yellow when I don't rinse!!!!
