pump setup question

how many amps is the pump pulling.

Its early and I just woke up but after reading this it sounds to me like you would be better off just running it off a generator and toss the battery.

i'm not sure about te amps pulling form the pump. is there a way to test it to find out? if it happens to be the amount of amps, what would be the solution to get it started besides a generator. i don't have that kind of money to throw down for a generator.

That is an important question Mike asked. It should be on the plate on the motor or ask the guy you get these from. You just might not have a big enough inverter and then, will the batter last long enough to do one house? It might drain quickly. You might be better off getting a good 12 ga. extension cord and plug it in your customers home if this is the way you want to go. You also might want to rethink your pump if you have everything else. Even a smaller 3 - 4 gpm pump will get you going and will work if you want to keep the start up cost down. There are a number of people here who use those pumps.

Craigs list, ebay and most all of your local pawn shops usually have a bunch of them for pretty cheap. I would start with pawn shops. They normally have great prices.

Get a generator, Harbor Freight has them for about a Hundred bucks, it will be your best bet....

if you dont have enough money to buy a 12 volt pump and battery then i would reconsider getting into this trade( atleast for now). If you have a job keep it and build up some equity so you can come full force with the right equipment and not be known as a fly by nighter. Please dont take offense to this i am just being real and trying to help you out.

I commend you for having the courage to post your inventive pump system. I am extremely fortunate enough to speak with people all over the world. I used to hear quite often, 'I am afraid to post anything because I am afraid to see the responses'. Fortunately, I haven't heard that lately. Guys and ladies don't attack anymore!!!! If you let us know what you have (I have not received a pm from you yet) we will be better able to help you. Our goal is to save you the cost of experimenting. Thousands of guys out there have tried just about everything to save money. The chances are very high that someone has already used the same exact pump that you are using and may be able to help. I have found that guys are able to start up on a very limited budget. I have dealt with individuals whom have PAWNED their belongs to start up a roof cleaning biz. Unfortunately, I talked a guy out of an All-flo air diaphragm system because of limited start up cash and he ended up spending a ton of money on chemical and inherent problems. (Air diaphragm pumps systems use MUCH LESS chemical because you control HOW MUCH chemical you can apply. You can use a 2.0 nozzle if you want to!)

ok..appreciate the replies and the tries to help, i just went out and bought a 5gpm pump and all is working and great. figured i would just use the larger 23gpm with extension cords if i had a problem on site with my now main pump.

Let me rephrase as i quoted "i don't have the funds for a generator"...i HAVE all the funds i need, the problem is i budget myself to spend in certain areas and i don't see the need for an expense of a generator for a set up. To me i would just rather add the extra lil bit and get the main pump that can run off of the battery.

None of that even matters as to i now have the pump that is needed and all is good.

as far as the 23gpm pump, there is not lable or plate to say who it is from or amp output to it...so no idea there, the guy just called me today and said he had another for $25.00 and another one coming next week for the same amount.....Not sure if i can pass up a 23gpm pump for 25.00 so i still have to figure the out how to hook it up to a battery.
