Hey guys, it's time for me to get a web site up. I have looked at all kinds, Go-Daddy looks easy enough and seems pretty cheap if you do it yourself. But I have read here about using a Word Press site. If I go with the one i've read about here, who actually does the web hosting, and where do I buy the .com. Any and all help will be appreciated. I have worked with CPU's forever but have never published a web sit and have no clue.
Mike, I am also trying to set my website up. There are some previous threads on websites. You can design them for free andThey walk you through it . Cannot remember where they are , sorry
Your biggest hurdle will probably be yourself. There are many options for websites, and many fine designers. But they don't know a lick about roof cleaning. Prepare pictures and content, as this will inevitably be the hard part. Mine took allot of effort, time (and help from good people here).
I suggest using WordPress but like Eric said the hard part is yourself WordPress is easy the biggest problem with it is too much choice leading to indecision LOL just look at my site I cant figure out what I want to do
I use word press for creating the site and bluehost.com for hosting. Word Press is pretty easy, but the person who isn't computer savvy might still get pretty lost.

Google has Blogspot Blogs that are absolutely free, and as idiot proof as you can get.
Out of the box, wordpress does SEO a little better, but you are in Arkansas, with little competition. Google even handles the domain name for you, if you want. Plus, you can choose a name once u get the blog, like roofcleanersarkansas@blogspot.com.
Dedicated domain names are not what they once were for SEO. The only reason I would buy one is for an easy to remember URL to give potential customers. Google has said they do not give SEO credit for dedicated domains any longer.
Yahoo is what I use it is really simple with built in templates that you can edit and add to.I found it very easy to use. They host and give the software for you to download for about 29bks every three months. There is drawbacks but for a quick set -up and go I would check it out as well.
I downloaded yahoo site builder. You can get the software for free and do not pay anything until you are ready to publish. Fail safe , if you don't like it no big deal. They do not ask for any CC info for the software either. Just download and start playing with it, to see if it is for you.
Best of luck! Kim R

Great advice Chris... I think Ive heard that before!
Expand2web.com Small Biz package, built in SEO and runs under wordpress. Bluehost is great my site is never down and fast. Did my site by myself and have never done one before. Like the built in widgets, SEO, and templets 8 to choice from.
I have my domain through iPage.com which is a web hosting site. It allows you to build your own website using templates or you can pay one of their programmers to build it for you. I haven't actually built my website yet but it seems to have some cool features and it's inexpensive.
I used Pat Motz of searchenginetweaks.com. Built me a great web site a great price and paid for itself within two weeks of going live. He is very good and knows our business as he is in the Pressure Washing also. If you need more info PM or email me.

Free, easy and in my opinion they look a heckuva lot better than some websites.
Ive got a wordpress site too and Ill say this it is a LOT more complicated.
I agree totally, Blogspot is about as Idiot Proof as it gets. I like Blogs VS Websites because you can target every keyword string with a blog post. Plus, they are free!
Got to be careful with some website and hosting outfits, they will lure you in cheap, then start jacking you, knowing that if you move, you will hurt yourself for SEO.
My brothers Air Conditioning Brandon FL website is trying to do just that! He bought 5 years of website and hosting from these fuks, now they want 25 dollars a month!
They were called HostingDude.com, now GoDaddy owns them!!!! Watch OUT!

Websites have been the best advertising investment Ive made.
Driving traffic to them is the only thing to overcome.
