Wouldn't the house square foot be different from the roof square foot?
Yes, and there is a formula for figuring pitch times sq ft. A 2500 sq ft home can have a little or a lot of roof surface, but a picture will reveal it, and you can go from there.
If you feel like sharing, I'm all ears (or eyes)! I do some shoddy square foot measuring from Google Earth and when I am on site, but I am sure I am usually off by quite a few. It's an estimate and at least keeps me using some sort of system.

Roof Cleaning and Pressure Washing in Anne Arundel County, and Howard County, Maryland
Will do. I actually think that I am pretty close, but if I am off by a little, that is okay to me. My prices aren't drastically higher or lower than others in my area, so I must be doing something right.

I think the best place to get accurate information is the county property appraisers website. Add a google and/or bing satellite view and you have a lot of information.
It's accurate in MD, 9 times out of 10, BUT a lot of times the latest picture has the house covered by trees, so it's hard to always use the online method.
