Newbie to the Forum From Florida

Just wanted to say hello to all the folks on the forum! I am fairly new to the biz of softwash and pressure cleaning. I have built a nice rig and have done a bunch of work here in the Port Richey Florida area. I am looking to get myself a stable and seady customer base and word of mounth biz. I have created my own webiste,a yellow pages ad, and do my own graphics and so on. I am obviously looking for new leads and support and more info from exisiting members! I have made contact with a couple local guys in the biz as well as Lori from PWP in Clearwater. I have gotten a wealth of info from here as well.

I am sure I will eventually spring the $100 to join, but thats gonna depend on the cash flow and how the biz takes off.

So far I am loving the freedom of the job and the new knowledge base.

Hope to move in a forward direction fast!

And just as a side note-

I have read this forum for awhile, and I am still so confused on the methods most usedor "the norm" for a roof mix. I am thinking this would be fine so correct me if I am wrong- 55 gal mix

Shingle mix- 30% SH and 70% Water, 5lbs TSP, 1/2 gal of hang tite.

Barrel or Falt tile- 50/50 Sh/Water, 5 lbs TSP, 1/2 gal Hang tite.

I realize this can vary to an extent and so on, but as a norm will it be a good mix?

There are so many ways to do it all it seems like and I just want 1.

I am using a Wilden M1 pumpat 90 psi and vary on the tips used on a wand.

We never use a 50/50 tile roof cleaning strength mix, especially  with TSP.  Unlss you are getting some old SH, you can drop back to 40 percent, save some money and your customers plants.

We sometimes cut back on the surfactant to 1/4 gallon per 50 gallons mix on some tile roofs bcause it can make them too slippery, this will come with experience.

Ok, Sounds like a good starting point  I would say. I am very interested in making a good all around mix, and having the KISS method still apply. So unless there are other methods, I can only see using this as a good mix all arond?

I cant seem to understand 1 other thing that is discussed on the forum too. Why would you use a pressure washer with a "soap" tip on it to do siding with a mix downstreamed if you have a roof setup on board as well?

I have seen many discussions that banter back and forth over this.

I have a 55 gal poly tank, large gas compressor, Wilden 1/2" M1 pump with teflon internals, and ag hose and a 3.5gpm 4k psi PW with a 15 gal poly to downstream out of and numerous tips to play with. So I am capable of doing either one of those methods I would say for siding. I only see the issue being mixing 15 gals of mix for one or 40-50 gal mix for the other to do the same job......right? One just allows rinsing and faster use to finish up, or I connect a garden hose with my commercial grade hose nozzle to rinse for the other........

I'm everywhere. LOL. biggrin  We live in Saint Petersburg but my shop is in Clearwater. We do a lot of work in Palm Harbor though. Chris originally set up my signature a couple of years ago as "Roof Cleaning Palm Harbor" and I just left it that way.

Somebody remind me why we started the premium side again?????? confuse

If our info is given out freely here, why would anyone ever pay to become a premium member?

The answer to this one question is worth more than $100.00 and now it's open to the whole world for free. Hmmmm, Maybe it's just me wondering? hmm

Sorry for asking the question here. If it is that big of deal I can certainly wait until my $100 is paid to join "the Dark Side". LoL I have no problem with that at all, just dont want to ruffle feathers by any means. Did not think it was a big secret however, that needed a $100 anwser.

I will be in touch guys, thanks a bunch for the welcome once again, look forward to talking more in detail

Nothing to be sorry about smile

It's just that the whole point [ I thought? ] in starting the Premium side, was to stop giving all of our hard earned information out in the open for every school teacher on vacation and off duty firemen to read up on and start competing with those of us who do just this for a living?

If it's all gonna be free still, I just don't see what the premium side that we pay $100 to have, is needed for?

I certainly don't blame you for taking what you can get for free! no

You asked a question and got your answer.

My feathers are not ruffled, I'm just asking a question myself, basically? confuse

Seems like RCIA should be getting some $ to pay bills with, by protecting itself from freeloading and to protect those of us who paid to be premium members?

Again, I thought that was why the Premium section was a paid place?

To stop freeloading and cut back on so many people doing this, that it becomes tightly govt regulated or the quantities of SH allowed to be transported, does not end up at 50 gallons or something?

The more thousands of nebies out there running around with hundreds of gallons of chlorine on trucks and trailers, the more spills in accidents there will be.

My son was a commercial fisherman, along with many of my friends-until they banned the nets in 1995.

I do not believe we are in a much safer situation as roof cleaners.

I think WE need some control on starting every Tom, Dick and Harry who stops in here!

To be honest, I'm surprised that nobody else is  backing me up?

Maybe I'm a lone ranger in my thinking on this??? confuse

Chuck
