Cleaning a brick house, suggestions?

Hello All,

A guy who just recently started contacting me passed me a brick house wash (he didn't want to do it because he doesn't like cleaning brick). I agreed to take a look and do this job, but I have to be honest, I have never cleaned a full brick house before and don't know what works best for cleaning them? I know I've had a heck of a time cleaning brick chimneys when cleaning a house, so there has to be a better way than what I am doing.. Also, I have a pending estimate for a church who wants their brick cleaned, but it has to be softwashed because they are fragile and are engraved with names of deceased church members. I'm hoping to find a good product that works well cleaning brick without a lot of pressure. I remember reading about a product that Eacho Chem sells, but don't know if anyone here has used it?

What do you guys use and are there any good brick cleaning products that you can recommend for softwashing brick?

I've had pretty good luck on brick with a 20% sh solution and detergent.

Personally, I add 16-24 ounces per 100 gallons. Had good success with both soaps.

Really? Are you downstreaming the SH? I thought brick would get messed up using SH, but this is all goo news.

I don't downstream anything. I'm running the mixed solution through my softwash pump.

I've put 100% SH in a pump-up and sprayed trouble spots on brick and have never had a problem.

Here are pics of this house..

It is 3,950 Square Feet plus the pool house. The guy wants the house and pool house washed, the brick wall surrounding the house, and the stone around the pool.

The problem is, the guy who sent this lead to me said he didn't give the guy a price, but it turns out that he quote $275.00 for the house and then didn't show up to clean it. Obviously, my price is going to be much more than $275.00 and this guy is probably going to choke when he sees my quote.

I submitted a bid of a little over $1,000 and here is the reply I received:

"thank you very much for the quote and time spent doing same...
 
i agree 275 was no where near what the job entailed...but a thousand dollars plus...for water...for one days work...is ludicrous...
 
i have had this done many times before...but the guy retired...
 
had you said the house and wall 500 i would have said ok...
 
pool house and walkway around pool 200...again, ok...
 
700 cash would be a great price for 7 hours of work with water...
 
please reconsider...

I did not reconsider because I think my quote was fair for the amount of work, the distance from my house, and for dealing with this guy who acted like an a hole everytime I talked to him.

Thanks for the help, all. If any MD guys want to do this for $700, let me know.

Thats a lot of work I dont think I would do it for $700
he kept repeating water so maybe he did not understand that you are using chem and the cleaning would most likely last longer than just a pressure wash
