 More caution because of the pond, I would wet everything, and wet again-tarp what you can, and watch what you do.

You don't want it running off the roof, but once its dry and rain hits it, it will be fine.

I'll let the ones that have done it near bodies of water chime in. No stress.

 Yes! Catching the Fish is "1/2 the fun" of roof cleaning. Koi are stupid fish, easy to catch in a pond, but Catfish are some stubborn boogers that resist capture.

Remember, Chlorine has 2 killing components,  The chlorine itself, then the salt that remains behind. IF you rinse right away, you unleash active chlorine. If you leave the solution to sit, the chlorine evaporates, but you still have the salt to deal with. Rain is unpredictable, and unless it rains like hell for a good while after the roof cleaning, fish can be killed.

Here is what we have done, remove the fish, clean the roof, go to lunch and let it dry and evaporate, come back, wet the hell out of the area between roof and pond, rinse roof, rinse ground again between roof and pond, then check chlorine level in pond water, adjust if needed with thiosulfate. The KEY here is the amount of area between Pond and house.

That is your 'buffer zone' and the more ground area between roof and pond, the safer you are, as far as killing Fish.

As a pond enthusiast myself, I'd have a fit if I saw a contractor spraying anything (ST or otherwise) in my pond.  Of course being in this line of work now, I understand the reason for ST and buying it bulk.

I think I'll keep a large bottle of the commercial stuff on hand ( Amquel,  Aqua Safe etc) for just that reason.  It costs more, but ponders won't obect to it.  This is in addition to bulk ST.
