I thought these add ons might be helpful to some. The Werner ladders hooks are permanantly installed while the Qualcraft ladder hooks can be moved to different ladders. The wheels make it easy to put in place without damage.
yes, I own those roof hooks with the wheels on them, I couldn't imagine working with out them!
You just push the ladder up over the peak, then you flip the ladder over, I generally always use a 20' section off a 40'footer, that seems to always work well.

I use to use the attached hooks but will be getting some of the Qualcraft hooks.
I lived down town cleveland for a while on Superior at the Reserve Square for about a year and a half. I was a union Painter and wallcovering installer at the time. I had a lot of fun their, lol. I roamed the City hanging wallcovering in several of the cleveland area hospitals, banks, nursing homes and etc. I'm originally from Ohio, North East.
We have used these for yrs, I now have an extension ladder that I have drilled holes in and can bolt together, throw the hook on with the wheel push up the roof and just flip it over.. pic below
Back in the day when I roofed we made chicken ladders out of wood ladders, nailed some 2x onthe top throw over ridge, today we are a little safer. I know this is not ohsa approved method but it works and I feel safe on it, usually use it to replace missing shingles...
