Referred to you customers seldom shop, and already have chosen you. I just wrote one sent to us by a Joe Dombrowski, some painter I don't even remember, or know! This is what happens when you become a household word for roof cleaning in your town.

Sounds good, Chris! Word of mouth is amazing, not that I would know, but I was wondering the other day, how long will it take before you can stop going crazy looking for work.
It happened for us at the 5 year mark. But make no mistake, in any cleaning business, you must always market yourself, it just gets easier after awhile.
I agree also, I just moved to a new house yesterday and when I went in to pay my U haul I used my business card. the man asked what kind of business I did and I told him. well the lady next inline asked for a card and the guy at the U haul asked for a card. I loved it. then I went into sells mode and started selling the soft wash. Word of mouth may have been my mouth but I always try to mention I have a business. The U haul guy also told me to bring in some cards and he would hand them out.

Chris: You hit the nail on the head. I have 42 signed quotes as of last Sunday and all came from word of mouth and passer by's when I was cleaning last fall. As you know I have been at this a relatively short time, but am the only roof cleaning service (only) in the area. I beleive this master of one service promotion is paying off. This response cannot be taken for granted and my marketing is going to be real aggressive, but the response caught me off guard just from word of mouth. Your point is well made.
Word of mouth is really a fantastic thing, you have such a confident feeling while speaking with the customer. I never take advantage of anyone, but once you have been recommended it seems the price is not a problem. On every job I demand 100% perfection, but " word of mouth " jobs hold much more weight because someone else has put " their " word on the line for you.

Absolutely Chris. An Established "Customer Base" that continues to generate referrals, makes Business much easier at the 5 yr. mark.

A-Team is in year 4 officially (1st year was......well, was what it was) We are booked 1.5 weeks out, that is the fastest time out of the gate for us, 3rd day in March. I'd say 35-40% is referral or word of mouth. Helps a ton for affirmation.
