Just got a phone call from one of my competitiors accusing me of stealing his signs and replacing it with mine. LOL! He was very upset and said he was about to pop a blood vessel. He said his cousin saw me stealing a sign out of a yard where he had previously cleaned a roof and that I had replaced it with my sign. I could not help but laugh. He then went on to say his cousin had my license plate number and he was going to turn me in to the police. I told him please do. I recently bombarded an area with signs a week ago and I noticed yesterday 75% of them have been stolen. All the other signs were still there, just mine were gone. When I asked him about this he would not say he didn't steal them. I am respectful enough if I see a competitors sign up in an area where I want to place mine, I move on to another location no where near theirs. I asked him to do the same. At this point he grew more aggressive and angry towards me, threatening me and my employees. I tried to reason with him and even offered to meet with him to share information. He said he was going to the police. I've checked some of my websites and he has posted nasty reviews on nearly all my accounts. How do you guys think I should handle this?

What she said...That will scare the 5hit out of him and probably only cost you $100 but worth every penny what ever it costs. He willnever mess with you or your signs again!!
I guess he can't handle a competitor coming into his area. I guess I should try to resolve this situation sooner than later because it's no telling what he will try in the future.

something recently happened in youtube, with me. If you look i have 3 thumbs down on my vids. I matched that with 3 thumbs up. That was the worst he coulld do? LOL!!!
Greg, man, that is messing with your business and a low blow. I'd do what others recommend because people definitely take it seriously when they see negative reviews.

Roof Cleaning and Pressure Washing in Anne Arundel County, and Howard County, Maryland
I had a similiar situation. I offered to meet him AND his witness in thirty minutes where I had alledgedly replaced his sign with mine. ( I was sitting around doing nothing at the time, but I seemed busy by not going immediately.) His tune changed abruptly when I called him out and after he had calmed down, he was able to be more rational. It turned out he was lying and I figured that out but I didn't press the issue and although we aren't drinkin' buddies, I doubt he'll screw with me again & he'll probably tell his friends not to screw with me either. I will admit, I might have spoken to him a little roughly, but he pizzed me off. The point I'm trying to make is before you call the law or drive to the courthouse, just let the scumbag know you don't put up wih bullchit. You're just trying to earn a living and you don't have time for childish games. He might come to his senses.
Yeah, I pretty much killed him with kindness. I think that pissed him off even more. I'm not going to get the law involved in something so petty, but I am worried he will drag my companies name through the mud every chance he gets. I'm a new roof cleaner in the area and I'm trying to get my name out there and this guy is pissed to have some competition so he resorts to dirty tactics. He wont be in business for long with that work ethic.

I agree. Just keep doing a good job and make your customers happy. That way, your reputation and your references will keep on growing... There will always be those low life companies that will hit you below the belt and sucker punch you... but those companies usually don't last... With that said..... Steeling yard signs is no different than steeling your money out of your pockets... If it continues, I would definitely try to catch him in the act (a picture or witness is all you need to put this issue to rest)...
