But, it doesn't sound to me like you have any idea what to do with one yet.
There are a infinite number of ways to design and set up an exterior cleaning "rig". Each has a plethora of minor details in which only the user can decide.
And "Apple Sauce" is an idea not a product.
This industry is more than just spray something you don't understand on a roof.
Forgive me if I'm out of line.
But anyone who is ready to do this for a living can build his own rig in his sleep and has at least 3 recipes for roof cleaning solution memorized.

There were two topics by the same person asking the same question.
They have been merged and moved to the appropriate section.
In the future please only create one topic/thread per subject.
Thank you for your cooperation.

I have to tell you a bit about what I am looking to do. Six years ago a quit a job of 25 years managing hotels and went out on my own and started a marketing company. In those 6 years I have grown my marketing company from ZERO income to over $300K this past year.
That said I also have a desire for more and to deversify. There is almost no one in my area cleaning roofs. I am not a mechanically, build it yourself type guy. I have a couple guys who are working dead end jobs ready for me to hire them. I have no intention of cleaning the roofs personally but I do want to clean a roof or two every so often to keep my workers honest and also so that I know the hardships that they encounter while up on a room on the job. I have no worry about finding more than enough business to keep them busy cleaning as I know how to market.
I have read this message board from top to bottom and it is filled with many great posts and has been an invaluable tool.
Bottom line is that I am looking for a put together rig to start out with and I would like to buy it from someone who would also provide some training upon pickup.
I understand that Apple Sauce is not a product but a way of cleaning that that eveyone seems to tinker with it and had their own favorite blend.
Thank for all you do for this board and for all your posts.

Actually Apple sauce is one of many formulations for a roof cleaning solutions. Each with it's own uses and it's own pro's and con's. I have seen a number of individuals use the "sauce" incorrectly and take paint off of everything it touched.
I was probably way too harsh with my comment.
I apologize for implied tone.
What I meant to do was encourage you to find out more information and get some training BEFORE you go and decide to buy a turnkey rig that neither you nor your employees could fully appreciate the how's and why's of.
Good luck on your endeavor.
I might suggest as a first step joining the RCIA and becoming a full fledge member. This will get you access to much more information and let the "Old Vets" around here know just how serious about this you are.
As I'm still a bit of a cub myself, I'll leave it at that.
I truly wish you success.

David, you win!! I see you noticed before you started posting that you were going to get a minor hard time and that you want to show these guys respect. Another roof cleaner to be passes the 'use the darn search button test'
I hope you find the rig you are looking for. The vendors mentioned above can all help.
For some time the RCIA has had discussions of moving forward with a paid membership.
We are proud to announce that this membership is now enacted after a unanimous vote from the executive board of directors.
All members that are currently registered on the RCIA forum will have a 1 month grace period ending on the first of November. After this date all members who are active on the forum or who want RCIA representation and advice will be paid members.
The cost of membership is currently $100 per year and includes a welcome package. This welcome package includes an RCIA members shirt, hat, certificate, die cut sticker and more. Please include your email address and your t-shirt size and telephone number.
Currently we are accepting new memberships at the office of our treasurer Gary Wyer, through this address: 127 Declaration Dr. Louisville KY 40214
Checks to be payable to Roof Cleaning Institute of America. In the near future we will have easier payment methods.
This paid membership will allow the RCIA members to have a voice and vote in the writing of the industry standard. It will also allow a chance to become an RCIA representative at events and gatherings were we can promote the RCIA standards to our customers.
This does not constitute a closed forum at this point, this and other topics are still being addressed and a plan of action for each concept will be laid in place over the following few months.
At this point we are no longer writing new certifications, and all current certifications will still be valid until the last day of 2011 at which point a renewal or new certification process will be in place.
