Stepping out on a limb here to post this, as I am no expert by any means, but did want to share. I've noticed a lot of calls for "likes" on facebook/twitter/social networking sites lately. I thought I'd take a moment to share my very limited info on this relatively new phenomenon.

Please take advantage of FB  &  Twitter for your businesses. The "link backs" and deepening of your social network can have a huge impact on your web-site rankings and your business.

In fact, I think it would be a GREAT idea for a course if an enterprising member ( HEY AC) wanted to teach social networking as a class to us roughnecks at one of the conventions.  It would need to be a hands on type class actually showing members what to do, not just explaining the phenomenon.

I've had a Spray Wash Exterior Cleaning Page on facebook for over a year now. I also take advantage of the "ads"  in the right hand column.   I can track  THOUSANDS in new business ( at least 3K) that has come from directly from face book. The cost has been a fraction of that. There also the business that comes from Realtors/friends/ other FB buddies who see my posts on a daily basis and refer business to me. As with any good plan, its hard to directly track those referrals as due to FB, but it just part of  the "top of mind awareness" strategy ( always being on top of those customers minds).

I know I'm preaching to the Choir here in the members sections, but if you're not, please start expanding your Social networking presence. Also SN has to be used to be effective. Simply creating a page, and never going back to it doesn't help. Devote an hour a week to new posts/texts/tweets. Put up job photos on FB....work these sites. Also create link-backs to the RCIA and other pages.

Now my pitch.... I'd love for your to like/friend me/follow me on my FB and Twitter pages. I'll happily reciprocate.

Also...attaching a picture of Google from this morning.  I've never done any SEO, of paid a company to do it for me.  I'm pretty happy with a #1 search result.  Thas has been the result of posting the RCIA, & social networking!!!!!

I canceled my personal Facebook page just to make sure my business page would show up. I tried making a business Facebook page twice.  It keeps showing my name and not my business name. It is driving me crazy!!!!! I finally just gave up.
