Amazingly enough...I did the job last summer for $495.00. The owner said I was the "higher" bid but he liked our work. I would love to be able to get $700.00 for that!
yup, yup, yup. nice this being brougt out in open. My question. Who were the other bidders? Thats most important. That and their method. Does it void the warranty?
I dont think so. They cant be beating our price, using that, (roof broom, whatever) and stay in business.
The only way to under cut, is our method, at the RCIA.
We may be killing each other. I got in a price war somewhere. Me and 2 other companies went at it. Got too cheap. Not making bottom line. I got out. Them 2 went at it with price, I watched. One aint answeing his phone, I liked him. Threw him work at regular prices, other I seen do something desparate. Other than that, nuthin?
I'm only workin a couple days a week, right now. I'm getting my bottom line per hour. I got repeat customers. 5 - 6 years ago.
I've always just try to be fair to the customer and fair to the business. I know what it takes to run a responsible operation and I try not to worry about "Low Blow Joe". (even tho it does piss me off sometimes). In the end I want to provide each customer with knowledge and assurance that I'll always be around if needed.

Ya just think about referrals. That part of the game. Also for 495.00 I would want to put a sign in the yard for 1 week.
I try to have each customer keep their sign up for around two weeks. Most don't mind. I also put the sign in a place visible to onlookers and out of the way for mowing.

As you know, these are just guesses from everyone since we dont know the square footage or if there were multiple bids. Good thing is we could do it for $495 and still profit.
