What he said ^^^^^^^and dump the small strainer that came with it, you want at least 3/4 from the tank to the pump.

I actually disagree about the Teflon. We use Teflon tape on everything and nothings ever been clogged.

Anthony, what Small strainer are you referring to? Does the kit come with a filter now?

Rodney, Cant wait to see the pics!! You putting it on a trailer or in a truck?

For the teflon tape "haters" if you keep the tape off the first two threads before constructing the piping, you will keep the teflon out of the system. The only reason teflon shows up inside of pipes is because it is installed wrong. Teflon tape is used gas lines, oil lines, and just about everything else. It all depends on the density of the tape. Also, if you are having leaks, it might be because you are over tightening the pipe.

The strainer is attached to the hose supplied, its pretty worthless. See # 9

Yea Rodney,..I would ditch that strainer soon,...make one from a piece of size compatible PVC pipe. Or adapt a small piece of PVC to a larger diameter.

Just put a bunch of slices in it for the filtering.If you drill holes make sure all the little curlys are removed from inside the pipe.

The problem with these strainers is,..they will be your pumps biggest problem once they start to rust and flake away and the pump sucks up the pieces. May take a while,..but just keep an eye on it. Not sure how tough these pumps are inside,..so it may not hurt them anyhow.

The hose and strainer looks like it comes from a paint sprayer suction line.

As far as tape vs paste. There are a few places locally that make the plumbers use both when it comes to gas piping. When in doubt a little overkill never hurts. Paste then wrap as was stated to keep the tape back from the first fee threads. Also, some people don't use enough tape.

Nothing last forever in chlorine. Yes, I said that it won't last a long time submerged in chlorine. That if you want to use the filter that you may have to change them out every few weeks at a cost of a couple bucks a piece. The reason I offer the filter, it's the type of filters I used for years without problems and it is the most cost effective filter to offer in a kit.

 I personally used what I call the drop stick method with the chemicals I used. It is basically a 4' long pvc pipe with the bulkhead filter at the end. My tanks had no holes in them at all. I would unscrew the cap drop the stick in. When finished I would pull the stick and insert in to my rinse tank to rinse the system.

The point is everyone uses different methods for cleaning and equipment setup. It does not make anyone rite or wrong, it makes it the way they do it.

Teflon will hold up to chlorine. The previous posters are correct, if you don't over tape the threads to get it into the system you won't have a problem. On a side note I don't use teflon tape when threading stainless to stainless. The reason is because without lubrication stainless will gall and destroy the threads when you disassemble the joint. I prefer blue Loctite.

Thanks for the input Bob. I'll be using 55 gal. poly drums. No bulkhead, just unscrew and drop in. Thanks for the GREAT equipment. I really like the kit. Keeps me from running all over town. Still have a few things to pick up. Quick release hose connectors and such.
