I actually started using them in june of 2010, I got around 30 leads from them and closed 12-15 of them, was worth it to me, but then there is not many roof cleaners here in my area. 1 job actually paid for all 30 leads.. so its kinda touchy. I say if there is not many roof cleaners in your area, go for it, Its a lead you might not other wise get...

When I used service magic years ago I did not have a website and think that killed me. I have thought about giving them another try, bit I'm hoping to get my website better ranked by summer.
I have no competition around here and don't really want to get into Mike Fulton's area (though it will happen). If I stay on my side of the mountain there are a few fly by nights, the pressure washers and not ONE of those damn machine franchises! So, I'll give it a try for a year since it works for some but not for others. I've talked to too many that have found the good and it helped them get moving in the right direction. Twelve to eighteen dollars isn't a lot of money. It's actually pretty cheap when you think about the printing costs, driving around, walking neighborhoods. No matter what we do, it's gonna cost something.
Brett, I believe if you're not happy you can cancel at any time. So there's not much risk. I did pretty well last year with googles' PPC. Besides word of mouth that was pretty much my only advertising, best summer in years. Didn't get a big volume of calls but the ones I received I made count. I also had 2 huge jobs(painting) that took about a month or two to complete.
yes you can cancel anytime you want, you can also turn your lead generator on&off. I have mine turned off at the moment, until spring starts moving in.

I have never used Service Magic myself so I can't comment on it. My opinion on the other hand is this. It seems like in your situation Service Magic would be a good thing without much competition in your area. The other plus side is that you can use the service magic logo on all your advertising, postcards website etc letting people know that you are a member. It adds to your credibility, and that is one of the things that people look for in a contractor. Either way you go Brett, Good Luck with your marketing campaign. Line em up, and knock em out.
