I'm in the process of building the most efficient starter rig for doing both house and roof cleaning.  Over the last 10 days or so i've been reading posts till my head explodes.  There are several things I don't quite understand but here is where I'm at for now.

Bob from Pressure Tek is going to build it as follows:

I've decided on a trailer (5'x8') with ladder rack
Fat boy pump
5.5 belt driven Pressure washers
3 hose reels ( 250' for pump, 250' for PW, 200' regular res. hose)
3 tanks (125gal for roofs, 65gal for house, 40gal water mounted in the back of truck)
X-jet or the new newer version that that I can't remember.

Here are some pictures Bob sent me that it would look like.  The tanks will be different.

How does this look?  Are there any major flaws in my thinking?

I'd say you are heading in the right direction. Then again, alot is your personal preference.

One thing I'd recommend is becoming a premium member of RCIA. You'll find the feedback more detailed there.

Just my two cents.

I'm just not a big fan of having the exhaust aiming towards the gas container. LOL...

Other than that it looks damn good. The only other issue that I would say you MAY run into would be the size of the tank for Roof Cleaning chems. We do some pretty big Roofs and I always seem to just make it on having a fresh load of mix especially if we do more than 2-3 in a day. I have a 125 gal and a 50gal and I'm getting ready to add another 120 for more mix.

Point taken, Thanks.
What's the self life of the roof mixture (i.e. how long will it last just sitting in a 125 tank in the back of my truck?)

Hi Doug.  In addition to Larry's comment about the exhaust, I'd be cautious about exceeding the DOT maximum for chemicals, otherwise you'll need a CDL, placards etc.

Looks like some signs could go along the upper part of the ladder racks without getting in the way too much?

Nice looking rig!

This would be a Great starter rig. But you will find as your Business grows (This can be fast) that you will out grow this rig quickly (Found this out in 1 year).

Size Matters.... 8gpm PW...12 ft trailer... hang reels from ladder rack, to free up room on trailer. re-size tanks as needed. Change color of trailer, Red..Blue anything other than Black. Make yourself stand out, be VISIBLE, everybody has a Black Trailer.

Yes this will cost extra, but the extra cost will pay for itself in just a few months.

Bob is a good friend, and knows his stuff when building these trailers

Good Luck!!!

And I thought this might be over kill for the new guy.  Really, my main source of income over the last 18 years has been my painting company so I hope I don't grow too quickly. This is intended to make me more efficient and hopefully increase profitability.

Looks good! One thing take a sharpie and highlite the 120 mark on the roof cleaning tank so it is obvious that it is set up to hold 120 gallons of SH solutions. The DOT will bust ya if you are on the road with more than 119 gallons. They will give ya some grace at 120. No one makes a 119 gallon tank.

Thanks

Gary,  What info do you need?  I'm assuming CC numbers , etc.
I'd prefer to do it over the phone if you don't mind.

You will need a bigger tank for water and less for house wash. we only have 15 gal. tanks for house wash and if you do any residential with wells you will find out that more water is needed. I would recommend for a starter to get-
120 gal. for just the love
100-200 gal. for just water
35 gal. for a roof mix (you take it out of the 120 and mix it)
5-15 gal. for house wash (You take it out of the 120 and mix it)

I do not like the X-jet or M-jet use down stream-Just my opinion (I do it differently)
Also talk to tom at ARC and get used stuff.

Doug,
Am I looking at the pictures right or is there something I can't see there? How are you supplying water to your PW? It looks like you have it plumbed to the top of the left tank...

I do not handle the memberships, but I THINK we can make an exception for you. It is not your fault that Gary is Ill, so I am going to go out on a limb here, and send you the password. You can pay Gary when he gets better, OK ?
Pay no attention to this roof cleaning tampa sentence, I am just trying to do a little SEO Experiment that if successful may benefit us all.

Pretty much but the 125 always has just straight 12.5% in it. I draw from that tank to make all my mixes. I had to add my 55er to the back of my trailer today and had that loaded as well for the 2 big jobs we did. One of them was a 4200sq barrel Tile Roof and took 4 coats and 5 in the back of the house. It was black like charcoal.  I was not a happy camper having to put that many coats on.
