He Stole Our Job, but KILLED the Plants!

Chris I was talking to a fellow the other day about his roof and he said I got mine done a couple of years ago and the guy did a great job it took him 3 days, he did kill all my bushes on the side of the house but boy did he do a good job. He wasn't even mad about the bushes.

What a Disaster, classic example of getting what you pay for sometimes, too bad for her, But I bet she has Apple Roof Cleaning on speed dial for her and all her friends from here on.

Chris, Get This Person On CAMERA!!! Not only would it be a Great testimonial for your Company, it would also be a great testimonial for using cetified RCIA Contractors.

No, I think the next time she gets her roof cleaned, it will be by a Professional.

I wonder what's worse,..guys causing damage like this from not knowing proper methods,..or guys like this causing damage simply because they don't care. They just want a check and don't care about future business or the VICTIMS property. Hit and run business's will always be around,....just not the same ones,..for obvious reasons.

They know Jeff. Actually, the tile roof looks good, it's the plants suffering that is the problem. No way a rookie roof cleaner could have cleaned a big tile roof like this so well.

He just didn't care about his customer!

A video would really help show the evidence of how bad it can go when untrained or as Jeff said when they just don't care.

I guess they guy didn't have a roll of plastic.

Chris Thanks for posting the pics. We are new to the roof cleaning business and have never seen the effects of carelessness. Dilution is really the solution.

Hit and run hacks are the worst. Tough way to learn a lesson, but I always say it, you get what you pay for!! I am sure the difference in price is not going to pay for new shrubs?

That's a shame.
However with all due respect Chris, it's not the number of men on the job that caused this, it's not caring what he was doing. We work 1 man jobs all the time [about 75%] We either tarp the plants or run good quality sprinklers constantly and since 1991 I have been called 1 time for plant damage and it was 3 small plants on that 1 job, which I replaced. That job was done with 2 men, myself and my son. If we can turn out a few hundred roofs a year with no damage, so can any other professional, willing to do what is needed to care for the customers plants and get up and down off the roof 4 times to make sure everything stays covered or is being hit with a sprinkler. It is also the reason why, I switched from a 5 gpm pump to 2 gpm [ and a tandem 2 gpm pump setup = 3gpm output] Those bigger pumps knock out jobs faster, especially with 3/4" hoses, but there is no comparison when it comes to run off. I try for very very little run off and I'm willing to spend an extra half hour - an hour more on a job to get that result. If a company is large enough to employ a 2nd man, that's fine, but it doesn't make other professionals, who do their job right with one man "hacks" But I think you know that. biggrin
