Vendor(s)/Where Do We Go From Here?

When I first started purchased all my equipment from Lori PWP. Got to say I was pleased with her knowledge, which I know where that came from, and the price and service was good.

Got in a jam and needed some equipment and she or they never responded or returned my calls or e-mails. Needless to say I was upset and over reacted which may have resulted in burning the bridge.

I have spoken with Bob at PT and found him willing to talk and give his advice, but have only made one order with them.

I'd have to say that PWP is more in tune with roof cleaning, yet PT has done well with offering a package setup. Just my personal opinion!

Personally, I would like to see all this be water over the dam and look forward to what will benefit us as an industry. Our resources for equipment etc. is limited and vendors are in short supply.

I must say we, "me" included, have not always been positive with our vendor(s). Whether it was Lori (PWP), Bob (PT) or AC. How do "we" as an industry get beyond our differences with them as vendor(s) and them with us as customer(s)?

At some point we need to make this a win/win situation for the industry.

What I have learned from experience, is anytime I make things personal in business I come out on the loosing end!

Suggestion: Maybe we go back to "all" of them and have them commit to standards as vendor(s), as we are about to do as RCIA members. Of course this would have to be a two way street, but at some point we all have to start looking forward.

We cannot change what has happened, but we sure can change what will.

Food for thought.

This IS NOT going to happen so we may as well just drop the subject right now.

There were many things that were going on behind the scenes and banning was the only way to resolve the situation, after many, many attempts to rectify the situation.

No one is stopping anyone from using any vendor. The phone #'s are out there even if they are not active vendors here on RCIA.

Good feedback.

Wasn't looking at making this about the one, but the many.

Would like to see those vendor(S) "on here" start linking to their products and specials they may offer.

When I joined the vendor(s) were more active and was helpful to starting up.

With building this forum and new members our goal going forward thought the subject should be reviewed.

Okay, I'll volunteer for the vendor committee. LOL

This may sound selfish, but show me the money.

Nothing personal, just business.

Bruce,

Even before the latest drama with me and my role I was warned by a few vendors that it would happen. I have been told by a few vendors that Forums, BBs etc are hostile to vendors and that they do not wish to participate on them. Even our own association past has vendors attacking other vendors.

I tried to create sub-forums for the vendors so they would have a safe place to post their wares, answer questions and post specials. We created them and then openly started calling them "cages". I am not sure who first started calling them that but it sent a negative vibe to the vendors. That was not our intention as the BOD but it created more problems then it solved.

I think ALLOT of healing will need to happen before vendors feel safe here. We are trying to create an Associate Members Title for the Vendors like many other associations. Then we will be creating an advertising menu for Associate Members who wish to advertise. Gary and Dwayne have been working on this with a few others.

We also already have voted in a vendor relations protocol and assignee. We can cover that with you at the next BOD meeting Monday.

The BOD has several front burner issues right now we want to complete and get off the business table before moving on to new business. Then me can start working on new projects.

All members need to know that we are trying to create a safe area for vendors and members to interact within the RCIA.

Thanks for you awesome zeal!!!!!

AC

That's not going to happen. Good call Larry.

AC, thanks for the feedback and background. Given the background, I can see this is a deeper subject then I realized.

I find it hard to believe some people can call themselves business people and respond in such a manner. Lesson learned.

I do have a lot of zeal. Maybe that is why I have progressed as far as I have in such a short period of time. Guess I'll have to put the brakes on and focus more on my business, which I have control over, and help on here as needed.

I am going to follow up somethings, off forum, for my own business benefit. I'll share what I gain if it can benefit others.

I am afraid I don't have the patience to " hurry up and wait'. LOL

When I decided to get a professional set-up I called Lori and left a message-no return call.  Called Bob talked to him on the phone for a long time and decided to order a pump.  Then I find out he's local.  I drove over spent 2 hours and over $700.00.  Been back several times great guy and local.  Hell he even told me where to get sh at a great price.  I did buy the quick connects when Lori had them on clearance.  That experience was very pleasant.

The paid members of the forum have repeatedly said they did not pay 100.00 to be solicited by any Vendors. Even on the free section of the forum, people must feel safe to speak their opinions about vendors, or the stuff a vendor sells. The last thing we wanted was to have Vendors roaming all over the forum pitching their stuff, or arguing with our posters. Hence, the term "in their cages" was born. From their cages, vendors can post all they wish, and those who want to pay attention to what they are selling can. IF I were a Vendor, I would jump for Joy at the opportunity to be on the busiest forum in the roof cleaning industry. Especially since no vendor is regulary paying us anything right now.
