State Farm Insurance and FL Roof Cleaners

Just heard from a client whose home I was going to do after the holidays that State Farm insurance has cancelled his homeowners insurance because his roof is over 12 years old. (Still going to do the roof, house and pool cage).  He showed the agent the papers where his roof was replaced with 30/40 year shingles and the hurricane anchors were in place and even had a mitigation inspection to verify, however all for naught.  They didn't care, or at least this agent didn't.  Think he has a family member who is a roofer?  Has anyone else heard this or is it just a blip on the radar.  Not able to verify as I don't have StateFarm Ins and I don't want to give them any ideas if this is a rogue agent just out to get business for a family member.

Anyway, still going to clean after the holidays and he has new insurance, cheaper and better coverages than his old company.  Oh, BTW, they lost all 4 autos and anything else he could change over to another company.

Make a customer happy and he tells maybe 10 people, but pizz one off and he for sure will tell 100.

I live in NC and I have State Farm for my Homeowners & Auto Insurance. The girl who works in my agent's office told me that State Farm was pulling out of FL altogether.

Sounds local. Haven't heard of such here in Iowa.

Yeah it's local, many of the companies got slammed in 2004 and 2005 from the hurricanes.  Florida kept many companies from bailing overnight, they are searching and finding ways to escape the housing market.  That is what I figured when he told me what happen, our own insurance company bailed on us and we live in ground zero "Hurricane Charley 2004".  Just think it's a chicken chit answer to a renew on a policy "your roof is over 12 years old"  Just wondered if any other Florida guys had run into the same situation.

Bruce, guess they could pull out of Iowa, Oklahoma, Kansas  the same way, looks like you're in tornado alley, (State Farm) we're outta here to somewhere safe, where ever that may be?
