I was reading Teds' post about trying to sign up for one free internet listing everyday (in the winter downtime) and I thought that would make an excellent thread for all the internet dummies like me out there. Right now I'm doing a major overhaul on my website. Just added a blog and I need to change around my website. But any tips on free listings would be great.
Facebook Merchant Circle My Huckleberry Angies List Register for google local / maps Twitter account Service magic (not free but in my area only $7.00 a lead when someone searches Roof Cleaning) YellowBook.com (there is a free business listing but I warn you they WILL call and harass the hell out of you within minutes of submitting it)
I'm sure there's tons more and hopefully Chris Tucker and others will chime in on all the ones they know of.

Service magic? Who has tried that? And with what luck?
I tried service magic for painting and air duct cleaning. Did not like the results. That was before I had a website though. That might have made a big difference.
I had horrible luck with service magic on the roofing side of things, people just shopped for the lowest bid. HOWEVER, on the roof cleaning side of things it is not as competive so I'm hoping for better results. I know one of my local competitors who doesn't use our cleaning methods gets quite a bit of work through them though so I'm approaching it optimistically
U Guys forgot Showmelocal And YellowBot And Kiiji And Kudzu And Yelp Remember this phrase "If it is FREE, it is for THEE" Most of these free listing sites will give your website a great backlink, at the very least.
