Along with the recent changes that took effect 11/01/10 regulating the use of the RCIA logo on websites and advertising, to be restricted to "Members" only, another regulation will go into effect 11/14/10 at 12:00 A.M.
At that time any certified guest that has a listing in the "Certified Roof Cleaners Directory" will have their listing deleted. This directory, along with the use of the logo, is reserved for "MEMBERS" ONLY. Sorry for the inconveinence. Gary
If I could justify the cost right now I wouldn't have a problem, but this late in my year and losing 2 commercial clients this morning I don't see the need in spending the $100 at the moment. I didn't come here not knowing how to clean roofs.I came because Chris asked me to and since he certified me the day I joined the site I'm fairly confindent he knows that I know my chit when it come to roof cleaning. Not to mention commercial concrete is my primary business.House washing and roofs are bonus work.

Well i'll remove in from my website ASAP.Thanks for the heads up
So are you saying you don't see the value in becoming a member?
Chris , I behind the RCIA as much as the next guy. Keep in mind if you think every guy that joined or had joined are going to fork over 100 or even 20 dollars then you guys are in for a disappointment.
I hope the rcia stays strong , but you guys do understand this only means less members?
FREE will always get you numbers. When you start charging people will expect something for there dollars.
I have given I'm certain more of my money and time other than Chris Tucker himself on promoting the RCIA.
Not everyone is going to see what or how your doing things. WHY are you doing this? I'm being the devils advocate, people need comunication from the leaders.
It seems these releases about not using the logo come about and with no real clear messages. ( Just letting you know) I currently do not display the logo and never have. It was being used by alot or contractors. In some respect it was actually giving more creditabilty to the org by having all the guys using it. I think personally its not the right time to ask others who have been supportive to stop using it. Its free advertisement for RCIA and has a larger impact of awareness than anything you currently have going. That logo is on hundreds of webites. Its more known because of that than org that have been around 20 years.
Here's a solution, when and if the new certification gets written and completed. Make a new logo for people who are actually certified driven only by the RCIA. that means that when people tap on that link from members site it takes them directly to the actual certified verification on the RCIA.
I have seen other orgs do this , control of this is very important. The only true way or control is if each certified member has this special logo.
The reasons are people have been told by the old owner Chris Tucker that they are welcome to use the logo. Now they are being told not too!!! I'm not saying you cant change things, why worry about this now????
Just my thoughts, I support the BOD in there final choices. Please reconsider this one.

I just wanted to address a few things that I personally have noticed. I am not on the board of directors nor a moderator so everything I say is simply my opinion.
People wanted to put the RCIA logo on their websites and marketing material because THEY perceived a value to their companies in doing so. I think that's a fair assumption? Now that they are being asked to pay a minimal membership fee for that value that THEY initially perceived it's met with a heavy hand. There is a ton of value to becoming a member; first let's break down the costs: One year membership= $100 or roughly $8.33 per month or roughly one trip to taco bell! In return they get a t-shirt ($10 value) They get the ability to post their business information on a forum that takes the top searches for roof cleaning on nearly every major search engine! They get to have a voice in an organization that will be influential in the roof cleaning industry. There's tons more value that everyone sees and recognizes yet only a handful have been willing to pay for. It's got to be a cumulative effort on everyones part to turn this site and the RCIA into a major powerhouse and organization.
You yourself said how much time, effort, AND money you and so many others on here have given all while anyone who logs on can absorb it for free and utilize that information to create a six figure income for themselves. I think after years of it being an open exchange it's time for the RCIA to ask for support in return.

Your taking it Wrong, i think you need to have some things in place first. I'm a huge supporter. I understand and one of the first guys here to contribute. I also recieve benifits for my company from the association.
Selling this to all at the moment may not happen, lets respect those who do not. Its no crime if our brothers dont see the light.
Perhaps when the BOD puts things in play then they will join. But to shun those who are not is not good PR

Chris I see your point and it makes good sense. But I feel like the Rcia isnt selling itself. I see ultimatums and demands.
I wouldnt tell a homeowner " you better pay me this amount because Im going to save you alot of money!" in a demanding tone.
What about the person who first clicks on this site today?
What is going to convince them to become members?
And now the search button is about to be moved? I see some angry... demanding rhetoric being thrown around in the members area.
If we want people to join we need to be nice to them. :)
I agree, I think possibly a detailed post outlining specifically what membership entails and where specifically the money is going to and in what order. I realize that some give based off of a belief while others are the "show me the money" type (that's not meant disrespectfully at all)
Yes it is, thanks Chris! Any organization membership dues are tax deductible.
I know I am married to Bill and he is on the BOD, but I read all the posts myself about the impending changes. From an outsider and insider view, the RCIA has given us the tools to grow our business. The RCIA can be more than just free information and moral support, it can be an advocate for it's members! Orgs need revenue to offer these benefits, like events, materials, legal support, etc. We all live in a society that places value on things by how much they cost. I don't think a budding organization should give everyone the same benefits. There is still a lot of free information available on this site and I believe it is going to stay that way. There will always be people who disagree, we live in America! That's a great thing. This is how we get better and what we're doing!

Boom,
You nailed it Morgan, even a post that Kim did made me take a few steps back and see things from another angle.
Womens touch? Not sure.
The issue I see is the "PAID" is being shoved down the throat of everyone new who posts, kinda like the OXY Clean, get out of debt, and if your a fan of Fox like me the BuyGold commercials, its gets old pretty fast...
Someone needs to just clean house, start a "Paid Membership post" telling everyone the bennies of joining, start a "why I pay" detailing why you paid, like Kim did, and one "why I don't or can't pay"..times are tough for some. Agree?
Appears every post has some talk of paid membership, the 3 above should clean it all up, and if you think customers aren't reading the in house fights, your wrong.
And someone else needs to sell, not bashing Gary, but his title is treasurer correct?
