what are the brown streaks in the pics.. this was after i sprayed?..  i also went through 40 gallons of mix and the house was only 1672 sq ft with a hip roof.. not steep..

i know its hard to tell the before and after pics.. the best one is the one i took on the roof and half of the roof is done and the other isn't... my son was my ground man.. i foresee dead landscaping in the near future... my ex brother in law let me wash his roof for free... i warned him of the possibility of dead greenery..

You MAY have to do a little touch up. rinse those brown spots and see if they disappear. If they do, you will be fine after the first rain.

Kevin:
The brown streaks are the dead algae bodies that have remained on the roof. Either a rinsing, or the rain will bring them down. Most of us prefer to let the rain take care of it for multiple reasons. ( Read the forum and you'll see why).

I think a 50/50 mixture may have been a little "hot", especially if you were using ISP too.  I would have sprayed that roof at 30-35 % SH volume. Don't worry, the extra SH isn't going to hurt the shingles, but it could possible cause you problems wit the foliage.

I think 40 gallons of sauce is a very respectable amount to use. I could have probably done it with less these days, but I can guarantee you I used more than 40 gallons on my first roof.

Congrats!

Not bad, the tan streaks should come off more as it rains but also using 50/ 50 ratio is not needed. If you use a 12.5% of SH, try going for a 50 gallon mix, go 20 gls SH/ 30 gls of H20 then 24 oz of soap, like ammony-lo. That should be just fine, then carry around a 5 gallon bucket sealed with 12.5% SH, if you need it a little hotter just add some.

That was a great roof for you to start on. I think after time you will see the roof clean up some with the rain. Since you only had 10% SH your mix at 50/50 was a little hot but not knowing how fresh it was you might have made a good decision with the 50/50. At least double the soap would have helped. The picture from on top the roof looks really dark and if it was all covered that thick in algae most of us would have had to do a 2nd coat also. There is no need to worry about plants and grass if your groundman is keeping everything wet.

The Isp isn't really needed. You could however do as others suggest and switch to Ammonyx- lo and then go with Sodium Tetraborate about 1/4 to 1/2 cup per gallon of mix.

Mix it in a 5 gallon bucket with hot water first then add to your tank. It will raise the pH, soften the water, and add an extra killer to the mix for the fungus, mildew, algae, etc.

Then a 20/30 or even 15/30 SH/H20 mix will work just fine.

I guess we are lucky down here in FL then. I found a supplier that will sell me the sh 10% @ $1 per gallon.
