Just got off the phone with a guy from Chatanogga Tenn. who is going to send me a sample of a new product. It is a powder that is Borax based, totally green, and he guarantees it to work with no pressure and very quickly. He also has a "sealer" that he says will keep it from coming back for 5 years. This stuff is supposed to work down to freezing temps. Its a green liquid,(sound familiar?)  We'll see when we get it. Hope its better than that chlorine dioxide I tried that was a "complete failure".

Sounds great Gary!

I'm actually working on a similar solution for my maintenance clients. NO CHLORINE and so far it works great.

It'll kill off lightly soiled roofs in a week but only time will tell how long it keeps them that way.

keep us posted, as far as the sealer goes be careful, some sealers void the shingle manufactors warrenty.

He called it a sealer, but by what he said I think its more of an algecide.

  Hopefully it will come before spring.  I have a foot or two of snow outside so I'm not working outside for a while.
