Good morning Moderators. I was clicking around here last night and noticed that when a homeowner does click on the link there really is no "list" of Certified roof cleaners in a particular state. Rather, it just takes the homeowner to another forum.
Would it be better if a homeowner could see specifically, in an easy to read list, the certified cleaners in their home state?
Just a thought.
Thank you, Brad Iannacchione Soapy Roof -Pittsburgh's #1 Roof Cleaning Co. 15668 15235 15239 Cleaning roofs in Pittsburgh, PA
I edited the title of this thread as not to confuse homeowners.

Don't really understand your post. When you click on the "certified directory" link it takes you to the page where certified roof cleaners are listed by state. Anyone who is certified and lives in those states, has the right and is supposed to post an introduction post to the general public. Yes there are some other "atta boy" posts in there which will start being removed for the very reasons you are stating. They just clutter up the veiw of possible customers and can confuse HO's by being there. Any states that show a "0" do not have any certified technicians yet.
Is this what you were talking about? Gary

Yes it is what I meant. It just seems alittle cumbersome to me (putting myself in the HO shoes) if they want to find a certified company in their area.
Thank you. Brad

It would be tidier with one post from each company that would include all of their pictures. JMO. It may appear cluttered and disorganized with the haphazard multiple posts. That is probably what the O.P was talking about.

I didn't know we should post only once. I've posted a few times for SEO purposes. It would be neater to just have a list of certified roof cleaning companies. At this point the potential customer has to sift through numerous posts.
The state listings should have a post from each certified member that services that area showing B&A photos and posting a simple "advertisement".
I don't think it should be limited to a single post, but we cannot post every job either.

As a paid "non- certified member", I have some concerns with this directory. My company will not be put in the directory until I'm certified. But you have not given any specific directions or time line on the certification process. I believe I read "spring of 2011". I feel that I am a certified roof cleaner after cleaning over 35 roofs in my first 5 months of business. I have read a ton of information on this forum and have not posted over 100 times (like some other people that do not even own any equipment or have not sprayed a roof). Will my company miss out on future customers, while the moderators are deciding how to certify a member?

I moved this from Roof Cleaning Chemicals to Roof Cleaning Certification forum. Seemed more appropriate.
Scott is off until Sunday... So, I moved it for him.
Just realized he ment last Sunday not next Sunday... oh, well.

We are working dilligently to develop and implement the certification process. There are a lot of things going on at the moment and just so much time to be had. "Spring 2011" was stated to give us a little more time to get it right the first time. Winter is typically a very slow time for our industry and that will free up more time for dedication to this matter. You can rest assured that the certification process will be in place prior to the spring increase in business. Gary

Thanks, Gary. I'm really motivated to grow my business. I believe that being certified and being placed in the directory will help me obtain my goals for next year.
I do think that when a customer clicks on "certified roof cleaning New York", a list of all certified roof cleaning companies (and a link to their website) in New York should appear. Not different threads about different topics.

The software that powers this forum only allows so much control, and that is an issue Chris is working diligently on. If you look at the post I made above about the csia.org you will see that it is a much more effective way of promoting the certification and verification of such. The best place to make a directory would be off the forum on an organization main page.
Yes, I agree. That is sweet! The customers can enter the zip code and see certified roof cleaners in their area. I also love the different certifications and training they have received. Could this forum start on-line training classes for it's members? It could be another source of income for RCIA and a way to keep the certified roof cleaners up to date. Almost like the classes AC has offered in the past. What does everyone else think about going back to college?

That very thing has already been discussed.
Right now the answer is...
We're still learning to walk, and that requires an ability to run.

Where all those "other" posts come from is the recent posts area of the forum. Whenever a post is made anywhere on the forum, unless it is in a password protected area, it appears in the recent posts. Most people don't realize that is happening, and go in and do their "atta boy" posts which then appear in the certified directory where the post started from. This is also why vendors posts appear in the recent posts area. We have the new mods starting to go thru the directory and remove a lot of the 'Atta boys". This should help. Gary
Thanks, Gary. I appreciate you taking the time to address this. I am not overly concerned but do want to clarfiy what I meant. Its not the responses. I think peer responses can be a good thing. Its the multiple postings by single companies in a region. I am not chastising anyone or even suggesting it change but merely giving a homeonwer perspective. I have maybe 100 roof cleaning pictures from 15 different townships. I could make 20 threads in PA to try and dominate the forum. Then other guys will come back and top that with 30 threads. The homeonwer gets in there, takes one peak and says "sayonara".
That is what I was referring to when I meant clutter. My intention is to make one thread and sacrifice some SEO possibilities and put a bunch of pictures in there. I certainly appreciate what the other guys have done. They are being savvy marketers.

there should be one thread per certified company under thier state. This thread can have as many promo post from that company and i think that is what your talking about and this would eliminate the clutter that your talking about.
Actually, it is sometimes better to revive an older thread for SEO purposes than it is to start a new one. I would happily consolidate my posts into one thread. The first post could be the main advertisement about your service areas and then you could post a ton of before and after pictures with keyword loaded text. That would refresh the thread and look very organized.
