Before and After Pics

Does anyone send out thank you cards with a before and after pic to your customers of their house after you have completed the job.

I am thinking this would be a good way to remind your customers of what their roof used to look like.  They would also be able to show friends and family members what a difference roof cleaning can make.

These cards can be made pretty easily at any photo store and are relatively cheap.  Maybe put a self stick magnet on the back for the fridge.

Don't beat me up to bad if this has been thought of and I didn't read the post.

I did that with my first half dozen homes,I didn't get much of a reaction from the customer and doing it got in the way. I then just stoped.

Craig, That's a great idea and we too use to do this but it just takes up more time.  We use to take before and after pics of every job and that just got out of control.  Your first 50 or so will get you all excited but then your computer is going to have so many pics on it.  We only take pics of the real big homes now.  Always carry a camera with you though never no when you have to take a pic of a pre dead bush or damaged eaves trough etc..

Customer service is never a waste of time. Before and after pictures of jobs with a request for referrals or future business is never a waste of time. It is smart business. If you don't have time for customer service, the only person you are cheating is yourself. You will miss out on plenty of work if you don't ask for it. How do you think the real successful companies do it? Think they don't ask for more work or remind their customers of the superior work that they provided them? Don't convince yourself it is ok to sit back complacent. Be aggressive and get the work you want.

I actually think that is a good idea,..especially for new business's. It shows you have true interest in your work while also making customers happy. And when you're first starting out,...anything with pictures is a bonus.

I personally have mostly stopped taking pictures. Doesn't take a lot of pictures of before and after photos to make the point of the service you provide.

OK,..I JUST DON"T LIKE TAKING PICTURES ANYMORE, HA,HA!!!

I would like to set up a Thank You email with before and after and give them a one click option to post it to their Facebook page. It's been a rolling idea of mine and I will try this winter to find somehow or someone to set this up for me. Anyone have an idea how I can go about setting this up ?

Homeowners like to show off what they have had done to their house.  It gives them a sense of pride and self satisfaction, rightfully so, from the hard work they do at their jobs to provide this home for their family.

In my opinion this would be any easy reminder of what their roof use to look like.  Every time they see the before and after pic they would think WOW.  Money well spent.

This thank you could also be a topic of conversation at family and friend gatherings.

The proof of your work is right there.

Someone (was it Ray?) posted a nice example a while back of a follow up document that was sent to the clients with before and after pics.   It looked very professional.

One thing that I've noticed is that most customers seem to forget instantly, how bad their roofs looked before we worked our magic.  After all, when we're done, the home looks like it 'use' to, or is 'suppose' to.  LOL

I asked an early client for permission to use his home's before and after pics in a post card campaign.  When the cards arrived, I made an appointment with him so that he could review it before I did any marketing with them, a simple courtesy.  He truly could not believe that his roof had looked 'that bad'.  He went on and on about it.

There's been a few senior customers of ours with limited mobility.  I've found that by providing them with instant before and after pictures, it backs up my statement of  'your roof looks great now  Mr. So and so'.  They can see it for themselves from the comfort of the own sofa.

Lastly (I'm getting too long winded here) - remember those commercials that said 'When EF Hutton speaks, people listen' ?    IMO on this forum, that's Brian F.   smile

I think for any other service except roof cleaning, its a waste. But because this is such a unique service that people are just discovering, its a great idea. The super dramatic ones we send already in our thank you email.

I'm not sure how to have an email that they can click and post to facebook, but if you send them the link to their folder on photobucket they can do it from there.

Good idea Craig.

Craig,

You are on the right track. By doing what you suggested is a great idea if you have quality before and after shots. Some of my before pictures didn't capture the true severity of their problem (shade, dark shingles, angle of the camera). I'm improving in this area, so it should get better.

What about this idea??     Take a picture of their house when you give them an estimate and show them what their house would look like AFTER you clean it. Photo shop the color of the original shingles (shingles on the roof that faces south), then paste it onto the crappy looking roof. I'm not sure this could be done, but it may be a good thing to look into.
