I was recently in a neighborhood down in my area and noticed that a company is advertising a non pressure roof cleaning service which uses a Biocide that is environmentally friendly.... I was wondering if anyone else had heard of this????? and had any input or knowledge of this????

Thanks,
Mike

Ok I'm just starting out but from what I have read and been told is that if it is ok for the stuff growing on the ground then it won't kill the stuff growing on the roof. Please correct me if i'm wrong.

The most widely used chems to clean roofs are one of many forms of Chlorine, Sodium Hydroxide, or a combination of sodium carbonate and sodium precarbonate, and in extremely rare cases it's just plain copper or ammonia based algaecide.

Some of the stuff the box stores sell says that it takes 3 to 9 months or tells you to add pool chlorine.

But to get to you specific statement. Yes, Algae, Cyanobacteria, Mold, Mildew, Moss, and Lichen are all living things and whatever kills them CAN and MAY damage the landscaping.
