About one year ago I found a post from Chris Tucker on the old Delco BBS talking about roof cleaning and he gave the recipe for Apple Cider, both in a Roof Cleaning strength and a siding strength. Some other posts by Mr. Tucker explained he had a roof cleaning company and kept busy all the time. I thought, if this Tucker guy does it for a living, it would certainly be a nice add on to our Pressure Cleaning business.
So armed my very limited limited knowledge, I mixed up some Apple Cider and headed off to my In-Laws neighbors. We had cleaned their house a few weeks earlier and the garage roof was prime for a cleaning. I told them I would not charge them for the roof cleaning since I was trying out a new product.
I had maybe visited this sight only a couple of times before my first excursion. Armed with a hand pump sprayer 5 gallons of Apple Cider I went to spray the garage roof.
I sprayed half of the dirtiest side and got fair results. It was cleaner than before, but I was not happy with the overall result. Light gray roof, still had brown streaks, even after rinsing. (picture 1).
Off to School I went, at the RCIA. After a couple of weeks of hard studying, I learned alot. Started to build the TLDS (Temproary Love Distribution System) set up an account with chemical supplier and obtained some good SH.
**NOTE** Armed with my lack of knowledge I used household SH in my first mix.
So, after completing the TLDS obtaining the proper SH and some TSP, we returned to the same garage. It had been a couple of weeks and the homeowner was wandering where we were.
Sprayed the entire garage in no time flat. Results were amazing. (Picture 2)
Had a nice rain one day later. Results were even better (picture 3). One year later, that roof still looks great with no stains.
This experience led me to the conclusion that Chris Tucker is not just any guy he is "THE GUY". Thanks to all of the great members here at the RCIA for sharing this valuable info.
