Ok my wife said that the caps made it look like I was yelling so I'll try to talk alittle softer.
I"ve seen  several guys gettting the fatboy. Sounds like a good deal. My question is which is better. Is the 5800,7800 or the 7870 the better choice.

It's been a while since I bought my pump. Good decision going 12 volt. You musta read some.

the 7800 series is what I think I got. Thats just 2gpm. To me its fast enough.

The 5850 is what most guys get to or start with. Thats the Fatboy, I think.

 Hi Gutterdog,
I went from the 2 gpm Delavan to the 5 gpm and recently went back to the 2 gpm.
I felt there was too much runoff from the 5 gpm. I still have both with me all the time, but I use the 2 unless I really need 5 gpm.
Like you said, it's fast enough, plus I don't have to drag a 3/4" garden hose around. A 1/2" ID hose works fine for 2 GPM.
There's a time and place for both and probably even for a Fat Boy, but for most jobs i'm back to 2 gpm. I wouldn't mind if Delavan were to make a 3 gpm with 60-100 psi though. Be a nice half way point for me.
Chuck

Ok I like the electric idea but there is a guy in town that is saying gas would be a better buy. But in talking with Lori she says that the gas pumps will be eaten up by the chemicals that are being pushed thru them. Evidently the eclectric one have plenty of power to get the love up on the roof from the tank. So would it be a good idea to just go with a bigger electric pump now that pumps 7.0gpm or is that pumping too much.

You are right, Chuck.  It has been my experience that many guys that stepped up tp the Fatboy, are now going back down to the 5850 or sometimes a 7812.

The fiberglass in the polypropylene manifolds of the non-kynar or non-pvdf air diaphragm pumps, J*** B***'s, U***'s, C***t and H****'s will be eaten up by the hypochlorous acid as the chlorine runs through them.  The fiberglass acts to increase the integrity of the manifold but is the weakest component when faced with the chlorine.

They last much longer with lots of rinsing and maybe even a neutralizer such as sodium thiosulfate.  (Sodium thiosulfate is a bit pricey!)

I use the 7800 series and it works great on single story homes, especially tile. I can with the right tip shoot about 25 feet. You're not going to soak a roof like that, but you can hit the peak from the ground any calm day.
