I was reading the shingle warranty from Atlas Shingles and they offer 10 years against algae common...wink 

I found it odd that they don't offer cleaning in their warranty only replacement of the bad shingles  hmm  it would be cost effective just to clean them?

We need to change that! biggrin 

Do any other shingle manufactures offer shingle cleaning in there warranty's?  confuse

Bob,

The warranty for GAF Elk's 'Algae Eater' shingles states that at their discretion, they'll either replace the stained shingles, or have them cleaned by a roof cleaner.

Here's one of the warranty docs, this one for GAF 'Smart Choice' (not Algae Eaters) but it reads the same.  Note that it's also pro-rated after a year.

It is nice to see cleaning listed on the warranty. From the way that warranty reads it looks like we still have Job Security!

It would be crazy to replace them when ya can just clean them. This was discussed before, about copper granule shingles or something. This thread was more informative.

After reading the warranty it makes one wonder if any actual home owners actually know that is an option or if they ever pursue it.
I gotta ask has anyone here ever worked on a warranty job and if so how payment conducted. Does the home owner pay the cleaning crew and wait for reimbursement ?
