If you are buying 55 gal drums, the lot number will tell you the manufacturing date. Shelf life before drastic reduction in strength is around 30 days. Gary
Haha, a new place that I am going to start using told me that the SH will last 18 months unopened.. I don't know if this is true, but I thought it seemed a bit off.....

After 18 months the SH will be about the same strength as household bleach. It falls from 12.5% to around 10% quickly and then slows down til it reaches 4-5% and then sits there for quite a while. Good for washing clothes and thats about it.
I left some sh out in the fl sun for around one month... approx 4 gallons. I checked it the other day cause I had a simple housewash and thought I'd just use that up...well it turned black! Needless to say I drove to my supplier.

The strength of SH depends on the temperature that it is kept at & if it has been kept out of the ultraviolet rays of the sun. During the summer in Houston Tx you are lucky to have a shelf life of 2 weeks...

That wasn't the question.

OK I will take a shot in the dark on this one, all of their supplies 18 months old?
Bingo! You hit that one on the head. I get mine from the distributor. I can tell when it is real fresh because it smokes when you open the drum bung. I like it like that.
Ask your supplier to supply a Certificate of Analysis with each drum shipped. Most chemical suppliers have the test equipment available and do this analysis on a routine basis when asked to include it.
Who cares on what the strength of the final mixture is unless you want to plot its degradation over time. Obviously you are not too busy, which you should be this time of year.
Spend your time on wiser things like marketing your company and building up business.

I'll say one thing.
Marcus knows this business!
He is also 99.9% polite.
But, like he said here "Who cares"
This is a "BOOM TIME" I have never been so busy in my life!
Not much time for talking until my Florida snowbirds head NORTH!
