Just wondering if Hang Tite does a better job than Ajax. I see most use Ajax when posting their mixtures. By the way, this forum is an excellent guide for roof cleaners. Job well done and appreciated. I will be starting a roof cleaning business in the spring and will use these next few months testing setups and mixtures. Thanks for all your time and effort. Any suggestions and tips for starting up is more than welcome.
Personally I use hang tite. Don't need much, just enough to help with run off, which will be determined by the pitch. To much soap will leave a film.
Start out simple. Don't get caught up with all the high end equipment starting out. Lori at PWP, from the advice of the pro's on here, set me up with the basic's for about $600.00. You can start out with a couple 55 gallon chem barrels. A small trailer. I started out from the back of my pick up.
Like yourself, our season is about over. I am focusing on next spring.
Work on finding a good SH supplier. I went through a few companys until I found a good pool supply company that offers 15% SH fresh and their prices were cheaper. One company I used watered down their SH. It will be a trail and error process.
There will be an education process starting out. Most people don't realize their roof can be cleaned. Make sure to take alot of pictures before and after. Get a good camera.
All the answers are on this forum. Use the search button and do your home work and then ask your questions.
Starting out use K.I.S.S. "keep it simple stupid".
Its good to see a few guys from Illinois gettting in the business, I used to date a girl over their in Salem a few years back, I think she was from Sandoval but worked in salem.. you should do good over that way.. I just had a guy come out here this last weekend and worked with me for a day from Matton so you might be bumping heads with him in the effingham area... but then he can help you market the whole roof cleaning concept their in central Illinois...
welcome read read read I use apple butter myself, I have used ajax, its works fine so does dawn... its all about what you like to work with.. best of luck and may the Roof cleaning GODS bless you

I agree that the most important thing is to find a good sh supplier Bruce. So far no luck yet, but still looking. I want to find somebody close enough to drive and pick it up. Yeah, kiss is a good accronym to start out with. Looking at some of the rigs on this forum makes my head spin. Lots of roofs to be cleaned here in southern illinois and im looking forward to it.
No problem with a little competition in my opinion. More competion means more homeowners will be educated about non-pressure roof cleaning methods. I doubt i will be taking any jobs in effingham though. Probably stick with Salem, Mt. Vernon, and Centralia area. I would like to get in touch with him though and share any thoughts and ideas. Thanks for the replies fellas. Talk later.
