We're working hard to clean up Maryland's Eastern Shore one roof at a time. Here's another roof cleaned by Chesapeake Hydro-Wash in Easton, MD. We ended up selling an entire exterior cleaning to this homeowner. We started with a gutter cleanout, followed by a no pressure roof cleaning and house washing. We cleaned the wood porch floor and sidewalks as well. The homeowner was so impressed with everything that they had us come back and clean the entire exterior of another building on the property. I guess they didn't realize how dirty it really was.
We've had a lot of nice upsells this year. This is surprising, with the economy in such bad shape. We always price out everything we see when we're doing an estimate. We offer these services to the customer and then offer them a discount if they decide to choose 3 or more. Most of the time the customer will end up getting at least one of the services done for free with the money they saved. Works out well for everyone.
Great job Chris!!! We give discounts too on combine jobs! It works out great for the contractor and the homeowner! A win win thing!!! You making Charleston?

Heck yea! Each truck out there needs to generate a certain gross every day. (were still just one). It sounds like alot of money but it isnt. To stay in business. To be there next year.
Hey check this out! Dude rolled up on my truck at staples yesterday. He was writting down the phone # he said. I was inside doing up the copies for the give away.
He needed some gutter work done. I gave him the 7 or 8 pages of what I put together for the thing at the fire dept. (was trying to add a roof wash to this!) lol!!!
Long story over. He called today telling me he had his neighbor for cheaper come over and clean and put in the depo guard. He is now seling roof washings for me!!! LOL!!! I think he will make alot of money!
How long do you spend compiling an estimate? Do you have a sheet / form with different items already laid out? The house looks great... Good Job!
It doesnt take me long to put an estimate together. Usually a matter of a few minutes. I currently don't have a form made up, just write down my measurements on a legal pad and do the math. I have been looking at designing a form to use for estimates. We have been tossing around the idea of doing some door knocking, and would like to have a form with check boxes and lines for a description that we can fill out and actually leave with the customer. That way if they decide to get another estimate they can go back to our check list and make sure that they are comparing apples to apples. The reason for this is my house wash prices may be higher than the guy down the street, but my house wash includes gutter whitening, the washing of all entry steps, the foundation and so on where other contractors may not include anything but the siding.

Thanks Mike. I doubt I'll be at Charleston. I've spent a lot of $$$ this year on equipment and then the trip to Tampa. And everyday I'm out of the field is more money I'm not making. I may go to Lenny's smaller roundtable in Virginia, or wait till spring. I hear Henry's talking about a possible 4 day event in Maryland in the spring.
