Redundancy

I am a stong believer in redundancy.  I always have spares and my equipment plumbing is designed so that equipment can be changed quickly & easily.  It never fails that something goes bad at the worst time.  On a job...  Here are some pics of my newly redesigned trailer.  All roof cleaning equipment is mounted behind the top electric Titan reel.  It includes 1 fat boy pump and 2 all-flo pumps.  I prefer aod pumps.  That is why I have 2 of them.  If one fails then there is another and if the aircompressor or air hose fails then I will switch over to the fat boy.  All pumps have 1/2 inch Hanson SS quick disconnects so that the input & output hoses can be switched easily.  The input hose goes to a switch that I bought from Lori at PWP.  It allows me to switch between a water supply or SH supply without phsically changing source hoses.

NIce set up......looks like everything is perfectly set up on a great compact space with no waste!

I totally agree with the redundancy......Old Murphy and his law can be a cruel mother!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What kills your profitability on a job is having to pack it all up, go get a part, come back later, reset and do it all over again!

What a nice looking rig!  We just recently purchased a All Flo  1/2 from Lori.  This, along with our 13 HP compressor pumping 17cfm at 100psi while using a 5/8 Kuri Tec hose is quite impressive.  I like your idea of having 2 pumps and a Fat boy.  You are definitlely covering all the angles.  We have been thinking about adding a back up pump system.  Now that I see your set up, I am thinking that is the way to go.  We are still in the process of switching over to a 3 Way ball valve system and adding some quick connects.  Nice job on your set up!

I also treated myself to the stackable electric Titans. When I did my first job and winded up the hoses I kept thing I was missing something. What if you hit rain? Does it concern you?

What manufacture of compressor are you using Markus?  I am very happy with my Ingersol Rand compressor after having gone through 4 Rigid compressors that would die after they came to working temp when they should have only throggled back to an idle at full presure.  Thank God Home Depot finally refunded my money after a lot of discussion as their computer system is set up not to refund your money after 60 days and to only give you an in store credit...    The Ingersol Rand compressor cycles between 100 & 125 psi at 110 cfm.  It only holds 8 gal of air so it cycles more often than the Rigid but it runs and runs and runs with no problems.  I am running with Ingersols brand of synthectic oil.  Ingersol Rand doubles the warranty from 1 to 2 years on the air compressor pump when you do so over regular petro oil and it increasses the duty cylce of the pump from 60% to 100%.  It has a 5.5 honda and can be bought at TSC (Tractor Supply) or Graingers for just under a $1000.  The air filters are way better than the Rigid also.  I wish I had spent the money up front than getting the cheaper Rigid as it cost me a lot of headaches and embarrasement on the job when the Rigid kept failing.  That is one of the reasons that I am such a firm believer in redundancy.

No.  The rain does not bother it.  Keep the chain well lubed as SH will corrode it.  Mine have the SS pipe in the middle and I love how quick and easy it is to roll up 200 feet of 5/8" hose.  Make sure that you solder the wires to your power source cables.  Then cover the wires with electrical grease & surround the soldered area with heat shrink tubing.  This makes a corrosion proof fitting for your wiring connection and that is very inportant.  SH will corrode solder joints over time if you do not properly protect them.

Almost did not recognize your post Dwayne without the airplane.  lol...  No problems with leaking yet however I do keep the QC lubed regularly with waterproof grease.

My next trailer is going to look like yours Markus!!! I like the hose reels!!! My trailer is too small for all that weight. Question, how do the electric reels do? Uhh You have to take the line out right in a straight line before reeling? Thats how I do my reels?

No, I just push a button and they wind up as I guide them onto the reel in an organized manner.  Saves a lot of time and effort.  I have been using the bottom reel for 5 years now with no hitches.  it is a Cox reel.  It is made out of steel and I keep it well painted but the SH is starting to get the better of it.  The top reel is a Titan aluminum reel with SS piping.  So far I like it but time will tell.  Electric reels are nice when you have a lot of hose to wind up on a regular basis.  The Cox reel has over 500 feet of power washing 3/8" hose on it.  We usually use most of it on every job.

It helps to not have the line twisted before reeling. I do not use a trailer so I am in the van at the side cargo when winding. I make sure my line will not get caught up on landscape, etc. I do not want to damage it or my hose. I choose single braid hose for easier managability.

We're using a compressor from harbor Freight.  These specs are from the website.  It is definitely a work horse.  It shakes the whole truck, and can wake up an entire neighborhood  LOL.  But, it gets the job done with minimal effort.
  • Powered by a 13 HP overhead valve Greyhound gas engine with electric start and recoil backup
  • Heavy duty cast iron head and oil lubricated two-stage pump delivers 18.7 SCFM at 100 PSI
  • ASME certified tank, throttle control and unloader valve
  • Cast iron cylinder for long life and durability
  • Easy-to-read
pressure gauge, shut off pressure switch, ASME certified tank pressure
relief valve, and low oil engine shutdown for added safety
  • Oil level viewing window and tank drain plug for easy maintenance
  • 30 Gallon Air Tank
This has a great warrantee.  If within 2 yrs, anything goes wrong. they will replace entire compressor free of charge.

Somethin's missing ........ where's the rust? Seriously, what paint do you use on your trailer to keep it looking so good? Rust drives me crazy!

I keep 2 cans on the trailer at all times and continuously spot touch the rust.  This trailer is 3 years old.  I do not recall the make of the paint as it is outside in my garage & I am already dressed down for the evening and do not care to go back outside in the heat.  The trailer is a Diamond C trailer & I buy my paint from them by the case.  My next trailer I hope will be aluminum.
