I went yesterday to consult a fellow that is getting into roof cleaning business. When I arrived he showed me his 55 gallon drum of Sh which was only about a week old. It had an all metal hand pump in it like used for fuel that they had used to pump out some a few days earlier and had left it in the barrell. I said when I saw it, " That isn't going to last long." When we got ready to mix a batch of cider, one of his workers took hold of the pump to pump out some Sh, and it wouldn't budge. It had corroded it already after one use. We went to tractor supply and got a sureflo 12 volt pump and I had his guys rinse it for about 5 minutes when we were done.
My question is, the Sh is now brown in color from the metal pipe that was left in it to corrode. Has the metal weakened the Sh or just discolored it? We went and did a roof and I used the same mix I always use, but it didn't seem to clean very well, like the Sh was weak.
Thanks, Steve

Saw your post the other day and was wondering what kind of fees did you work out if you don't mind... shur sounds like they needed Hep!!
They definately need more help. I only spent about 6 hours with them. It was a typical 1st day using someone elses equipment. Took awhile to get it drawing chemicals, then hose popped off pump a couple times flooding their box truck with chemicals, had weak chemicals, etc. so it wasn't a very good experience. We didn't work out the retainer details, so I just charged him $300 for the part of the day I was there. He said he wanted me to come back and train some more people, so we will see what develops.

wished i have seen this post a few months back..:D SH turned brown and small debris comming out. we had to transfer and filter the rest of the SH, it was weeker so i just added less water, used on driveways and sides, for free. still worked nice.
got to filter them, those debris might jam your equiptment.

Been there done that and got the shirt, made that mistake years ago. This is what we use now, an old delavan pump with a 12v battery. We use PVC piping to pump out of the drum into the holding tanks, but we also rinse with fresh water every time when we are done. The last pump lasted over 2 years before leaks happened, this one is going on 9 months. Works very well.
