uuh how do you clean gutters? Do you pay attention to the downspout?

Most clogged downspouts can be cleaned without taking it apart or trying to run a snake through it. Sometimes thats the only way, taking it apart is too. That is like 1 in 50 jobs!!!

Gutter cleaning in Maryland Was the big job for us years ago. I like selling bigger jobs now. For years that was all we did pretty much is clean gutters. before 2008 I was doing 6-10 gutter cleans a day! People hated me at the ATM puttin the checks in! LOL!

Hit me up with your questions about gutter and downspout cleaning. - Mke

Mike it would probably be just as easy for you to go ahead and tell us how you clean gutters and down spouts out instead of each and everyone of us hitting you up about this?

well there is alot to tell. Some dudes didnt know leaf blowers were a way. How bout this. Downspouts.

The penny test. Take a penny and drop it down EVERY downspout. If all you hear is metal to metal sounds no thud sounds, comes out the bottom that downspout is perfect. It also tells you where the clog is.

What is the fastest way to clean a gutter. Not the downspout but the horizontal gutter? A blower, vacuum, scooper, PW, etc....? Do you bag the debris while on a ladder or on the roof, or do you throw it to the ground and pick it up after?

Leaf blowers are the most time efficient way to clean a gutter and test and clean a downspout! It is best to have a leaf blower that fits the outlet well. The air pressure coming out the downspout should be the same as what is going in at the top. Important the tip of the blower is in the outlet. If the downspout is clogged its 9 out of 10 times between the 2 elbows up top. Vibration below and hitting the outlet with the nozzle pops it like a zit! Anything including bagging whatever is an up charge.

After a while, experience, you can tell how cloged a downspout is using the blower and feeling whats coming out the bottom. Half clogged, more clogged or less. Every downspout is 100% clean. Not sure drop a penny down it. Also because pennys are flat, depending on how horizontal the DS is between the first 2 elbows, I've seen them perfectly horizontal, no rake. Try to roll that penny.

Rocks or marbles could be used. I've always used pennys.

Downspouts. years ago I got subbed this apartment complex. Gutter clean. Had 2 dudes working for me one still does. I'm the guaranteed downspout guy right! I took one 10 ft ds apart and flipped it upside down! It was full! Took others apart. I had a quarter size hole in each palm bangin on the downspouts. We worked in the dark and got it done in one day.

A property manager that was visiting said he never seen anyone clean the downspouts, wanted my card. I Said I was hear working for xyz and to contact him.

A good question to become certified. If you bag the gutters, do you just assume they are clean or check them first including the downspouts?

I think assuming anything is bad?

So true bro, assumptions kill otherwise good business people. We always check out the gutters and act accordingly. Our bids say 'may include some gutter clean outs and whitening for free'
