Counter Flashings

What is the proper procedure when you encounter a lower roof that intersects with a brick wall which has counter flashing.

In most cases, the counter flashing is either black or brown.

Do you pre-wet it or mask it, do you rinse it immediately after application, or does the cleaning solution have no adverse affect to it?

Also, would the cleaning solution have any affect on the caulking?

Thanks,
Greg

Greg,

Step flashing is the individual steps of aluminum pieces of flashing between shingles and counter flashing is a piece that covers the step flashing and both are made out of aluminum trim with a baked on finish which is safe to spray. It is also safe to spray the caulking. When in doubt pre-wet...  "I am not sure on copper flashings"
