Wow, nothing like guerrilla warfare! I really don't know how ppl can think that a pressure washer aimed at your roof is good for it? Isn't it common sense, sure ppl don't know about SH, etc but they must think there is some type of "soap" that cleans it.
At least this person thought that the roof could be cleaned. I love the ones that just replace it cause its dirty...

I routinely bid against PJ Fitzpatrick, they are based in Delaware and travel to Jersey and PA, and they clean roofs this way. Jobs that I have done for $1,600 for the whole roof, they have bid $2,600 just to clean the stained areas. We better hope they don't figure out how to clean them the right way because they have a massive marketing department and numerous dedicated salesmen! They could quickly dominate the market.

Plenty of people will pay $1500. It just has to be a big enough roof. We just did a roof and stucco wash today for a guy that had a pressure washer do it last year. The guy did a 2-3 story front stucco wash and a very large steep roof for $300, all with a pressure washer. He ruined some shingles in one area and left lines all over the stucco and roof. We did it all in 3hrs. today and the customer is very pleased. We charged a lot more than $300.
The funny thing is that the pressure washer guy really needs to charge more for the time it takes to do the job that way. That guy last year was there for 10 hours for $300, on top of a roof with a surface cleaner. These people are insane!! We used to do it that way before we knew better and our prices started @ $.75 per sq. ft. I must admit we made very good money doing it that way. But now we sell a ton of them instead of 20-30 a year.

Hey Bill! and everyone reading. I lost a bid earlier this year to a guy that washed her house, and a HUGE deck! ....Huge for 300. All of it! house and deck. 300, no chit! I'm sure it took him a few days to make that! LOL!! he prob got a lil craftsman 2550 psi, 2 sumtin gpm, lol!!!
That deck! It was huge. wish I couldve washed it. Been some great pics. It had 3 levels to it.
These guys are out there. Always have been. Always will. Dont even think about the low priced hack. Focus on your company. Are you up this year? Good enuf for me!
You might get some shingles so you can show the customer how easily the granules can come off and explain how using a pressure washer can not only blast the granules off, it can blast the shingles off and possibly punch a hole through the roof with the right person without experience.
I would try to educate them on your system vs. pressure washing the roof.
