Been sitting here for few days out of business since my truck is in the shop. I now know the downfall of a truck mounted rig!!!!!! I'm loosing jobs every day....AAARRRGGHHHH.
Don't get me wrong, my truck brings in lots of business. It sets me apart from my competition in the area. Its compact, I can get into area where some trailer mounted rigs can not venture. However, when its down, I'm out of business!
I think I'm going to start planning a trailer mounted rig as a back-up
BTW, lost a tooth off the flywheel, sheared the starter bolts off, and found a cracked bell housing on the tranny.....not an easy nor cheap repair.

What are going to pull the trailer with?? If your truck is down, you're in the same boat with nothing to pull it with. Perhaps some PM would be a better idea. JMHO. Truck rental??

LOL, now you know why we have 3 trucks, if you want to run 2, have 3, if you want to run one, have a backup
I am going to try to put together a second rig out of good deals I find along the way (people going out of biz, etc) also for a second rig/spare setup so we dont go down...
it's essential to have a back up unit, especially when you have two or more guys working, each day loss is big money, and your customers don't care to hear that your equipment is down.
Clyde. I like the boxtruck in this picture. Is it a 10, 12, or 15 foot. We are looking at Box trucks and are having a difficult time deciding which one. Obviously the larger the better, but we are on a budget and trying to get a good deal. We just don't want to go too small and regret it. I know there are posters that have rigs set up on the back of their pickups, so I'm assuming a 10 foot boxtruck would work. What are your thoughts?
Talk about equip failure I am hanging my head in shame about standing up for a delevan that thing left me down twice today I'm thinking I have no option but to win the all flow in FL

Marcus my box is a 14 footer, how ever I am considering taking the box off and installing a flat bed. I also have an open trailer which I like working out of so I'm sure I will love the 14 foot flat bed on my truck.
Keep your eyes open you can probably get a good used truck simuliar to mine for a good price. I wouldn't go with any thing less than a 14 footer and at 14000 GVW.
Thanks. I agree, 14 feet of storage space can easily hold everything with room to move around. I like the idea of an open bed system for easy accessibility. From reading many posts, it appears there are a lot of open trucks and trailers, I guess being new at this with a new rig, I'm just a little skeptical about potential damage from the elements (ex: sun damage) and debris, theft, etc. All our equipment is on order and coming in every day. The transportation issue is all that is left to decide on.
My Totes have performed flawlessly. I couldn't be happier, especially since they cost $100 up here close to farm country. It has two connectors in one....a female threaded 2" and a grooved male quick connect style fitting. I plumbed it with the 2" and thread tape and have had no leaks.
