We have a snake!!

Yesss! I was extremely happy to find a dead baby snake on a roof this week but I am not quite sure what it is. I guess its not as cool as Bobs frog because its dead

It was almost 2 feet long so just a youngster.

I know one of us roof cleaners will be able to determine the species, especially you bayou boys so please do because it is not anything we see round our parts ever, and could be from a lost pet or something. The homeowner has never had any snakes and I told her I would find out what kind it is.

Looks like a Ball Python to me.

I take that back because I looked at a photo and the coloration is reversed.

Here is a page for identifying snakes in PA. I could not see the photo real well.

There is nothing like hand cleaning gutters and pulling out a snake.  Especially a live Copperhead poisonous snake.  That will make you raise your rates...

Yeah I used to have a ball python and I thought it looked simalar. Thanks for the link it is definitely a Northern water snake. Just in its juvenile stage.

I would guess Grey Rat Snake. Down here in the south we call then White Oak Snakes.  Just an educated  guess.

You know better than me Ray, I know my fish, not my snakes. We never have any snakes but garter snakes unless we go fishing, then maybe a water snake or copperhead.

We have plenty of white oaks around where I was cleaning this roof. Why do you call them White oak snakes. Do they eat Chipmunks or something?

I just know that this crispy critter had some help getting up on that roof. We could see a part of its side popped out which is probably from a birds beak.

ON a little deeper examination I'm going to change my guess to either a Water Snake, or a Milk Snake....
here's your PA field guide....Ya'll don't have White oaks, or Grey Rats snakes up there!
