Hey Guys, My name is Micah and I operate We Wash Windows in the Upstate of South Carolina. We offer window washing, pressure washing, soft washing and roof cleaning services here mainly in the Upstate. I've cleaned several roofs before using the cheaper 12v setups, but decided to get setup to do it right!
Today I bought the Rigid air compressor from Home Depot and left a voice mail for Lori to send out everything else in the morning. So hopefully in a few days I'll have it all put together. Which is good because I already have roofs lined up. I figured since I was making this big of an investment I better join this forum.
Looking foward to learning more! If anybody has any questions about window cleaning in general or window cleaning with a water fed pole feel free to ask!
Welcome to the site, there is plenty of great info here thanks to Chris T.
You made a good decision with the system from Lori at Pressure Washer Products, that is what I will be upgrading to soon.

Hi Micha, Thanks for the invite. I do have a question about window washing. If I were cleaning a roof with gable or high windows. could I use the type of Window cleaner that you put into a garden hose attachment and spray onto the window from the ground. Would this be OK or would the windows streak.

Using the products like the windex outdoor spray won't leave you with perfect results, especially if you're in an area that has hard water. It will be better then simply rinsing with water - but I don't think the results would warrant being able to charge the customer for an exterior window wash.
If you wanted to add windows as an upsell, you could do this pretty easily with a water fed pole setup. With this method, you purify the water removing all the minerals that leave hard water stains. This ultra pure water actually pulls the dirt of the windows and rinses it away. The water is delivered through the water fed pole - which essentially is a pole with a brush on the end with flow thru jets. The pole has a hose running along the outside or thru the middle of the pole. With this method no cleaners are used, just the purified water. This method does not require a squeegee as the water dries spot free.
This method allows you to clean windows upto 5 stories (sometimes higher) from the ground using no ladders, no lifts and no ropes. I have a 60 foot carbon fiber pole that weighs less than a gallon of milk.
In many cases the WFP cleans the windows cleaner then a squeegee and soap can.
Hey neighbor! Welcome to the site. Guess I won't be the area's "only" for long! Good luck with everything! Looking forward to bringin' up the industry with you!!
Way to go Micah! Someday you will get so busy that you will drop cleaning widows like I. Not enough profit per time wpent.
Chris, it looks like I beat you to the punch. I, like Micah had a little talk with Lori are changing our ways in cleaning roofs. I could not due it last year due to the recession. This spring season I have been too busy to call, but the season is finally winding down for me.
Sorry Scott but I am giving All-Pro a try. It sounds like less hassles in the long run and that is what I am in it for.
From what I heard, listen to Lori and get things setup correctly according to their advice and you should have "Headache Free Roof Cleaning".
I have only heard good things about the All Flo air diaphragm pumps, the only thing is that you have to get that large cfm air compressor but it is all downhill from there.

Hello Home Depot Rigid wheelbarrow air compressor tomorrow.
Chris you are right about Lori. You know that I have been researching the systems for over a year now. Boy has the equipment and the roof cleaning proceedures in a year and a half... I told Lori what I wanted and she had some great suggestions that I had not realized.
If you want someone that knows what they are selling, then
I 2nd that about Lori. Great customer service. I got the All Flo today, only 2 days after i ordered it. She even knew I wanted the Blue 200' of Kuritec hose w/o me even telling her I preferred the blue over the red. What I didn't know is that Pressure Washer Products has a very nice catalog. Full color pictures and everything. Best looking supply catalog I've seen. No picture of Lori in it tho.
I doubt I'll ever give up window cleaning! There are some low ballers out there that hurt the local economy for window cleaning, but it can be extremely profitable. I have done $700 an hour with residential windows... If roof cleaning slows, check into a WFP system.
I know guys doing millions of dollars a year in window cleaning. It's really cool being able to meet the successful window cleaners and networking - just like in the pressure washing and roof cleaning industry.
