How do you guys deal with the wind? When do you call it a day. I feel like every day I have a roof job the "light breeze" turns into a serious gust or wind. Had a job the other day where the love was blowing back up the roof. It was all I could do to shoot the top corner. Not to mention more chemicals and it taking much longer to shoot. Even had a ladder blow over after I got down from it. I am sure I never paid it much attention to the wind before roof cleaning, but it seems to blow in southeastern PA about every day now.

ALL the more reason you need a good roof cleaning pump, Wind is a fact of life we as roof cleaners must deal with. If it is too windy, we don't spray roofs, simple as that. But if there is a moderate wind gusts, simply spray in between gusts, is about all you can do. A Pre Wet roof can often help on a windy day, here is why. A Pre Wet roof seems to spread the chemical better, and is less dependant on a direct shot of chemical to an area. The combination of a pre wet roof, and a good surfactant both aid dwell and evaporation time on a windy day. Of course, we always spray with the wind, whenever possible, and dont forget the googles !
It's been very windy here in Toledo also. We did a job the other day and we had to do it in between gust of 20 miles per hour. House looks great though.

Sounds like you need to install gutter guards (ladder stabilizers) on your ladder, if your ladder is blowing over.
Yeah I know. I had one on my 32', but should have taken the time to switch it over to the 24' before putting it up. Live and learn! I am planning to pick up another stabilizer tomorrow.

Yeah I agree! I have an all flo pump and felt like I was good on the pressure to reach the peak, but the gusts were crazy. It would just about be there and bam it would make a right turn (I was over as close to the edge as I had a big tree to contend with). Oh and yes I hear you on the googles and mask. Thinking about keeping a shield on hand as well. I know my limits now. only good thing was it was a big property and spray was not coming down on the landscaping! Turned out great and customer was thrilled, just took alot longer than I thought. I will try the pre wetting the roof. Thanks for the great input. I really appreciate it!

I have not had that issue come up. Funny thing is I did the house next to this one same day. Also was using the Floramask (sp?) green apple. I decided I will use when houses are close together to avoid this issue.
